“He wants to come, he’d love to”

|

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano’s representative Horacio Zandonadi has told Ona FM that a deal between Liverpool and Barcelona for the Argentinean captain could be tied up relatively quickly after the Reds apparently lowered their demands for the player:

“He wants to come, he’d love to, but the decision is in the hands of Barcelona. But economically it is a very easy deal to finalize.”

Zandonadi was also quoted as saying that Liverpool were asking for an “affordable amount” and this was due to Rafa Benitez leaving Liverpool, the financial situation at the club and because Inter Milan had withdrawn from the bidding. He also suggested that Liverpool would be interested in bringing Alexander Hleb back to the Premier League and this could lower Masch’s price further.

The agent is sounding desperate now!

I can see Liverpool doing a deal-Hleb+15mil for Masch!

  • Boomstick says:

Why would we want Kleb? We need the money and every penny to fund a striker of quality, and probably a right winger. We have Aquilani, Poulson, Gerrard, Lucas, etc for the centre spot

  • Mr Frome says:

Don’t need Kleb, need another striker

  • WealthyB says:

Hleb is still a good player (albeit 30 now) so I’m not sure we need another ageing player to join Joe Cole and Poulson in the squad who will have little or no sell on value in a few years time.

One thing is for sure, for the good of the club we need to sell Mascherano quickly, so this saga can come to an end and we can move on.

  • anteater says:

Hleb is rather a central midfielder than a winger so I actually don’t see him fitting in well into our current set up.

Re. Paul. Hleb turns 30 next year and we paid almost 20m for Mascherano so that kind of deal would make little sense. 20m + Hleb for Masch sounds better, but the we’d have to many central midfield players.

  • higgo says:

poulsen is his replacement, straight cash deal, then make mick mccarthy an offer he cant refuse for kevin doyle, perfect foil for torres.

  • m kop says:

I dont know why Liverpool is lowering their demands, he is the one who wants to leave he should have found himself a club willing to pay the transfer fee.
Anyway, I would like it more if Liverpool could swap him for Balotelli, maybe make a deal to get Muntari too.

  • Zahid says:

LOL @ DOYLE SHUT UP YOU IDIOT. FORLAN OR CARLTON COLE OR FABIANO BUT HED BE TOO EXPENSIVE…… ID RATHER SEE BARCELONA GETTING OZIL THAN OUR RIVALS UTD, THEN THEY WOULDNT BUY MASCHERANO AND INTER WILL ONLY BUY MASCHERANO ONCE THEY SELL BALOTELLI AND IF THEY DON’T COME FOR HIM THEN LETS LEAVE HIM ROT ON THE BENCH……YNWA

  • anakjin says:

  • king says:

why not demand for 15 million pounds & Bojan Krikic?

  • ruben says:

hodgson we need young players for the future of lfc.make no sense selling masch under £25m to add another ageing player to the squad.people were blaming RAFA but he bought younger players and made them great Why not signing players like TURAN,DEFOUR Hodgson as England manager would have been a disaster

  • tom says:

Why is everyone being so harsh on mascherano? He is on the record only yesterday as saying he doesn’t want to leave the club, just our country. He is proud to play for us, but doesn’t like living in Britain, which I for one can sympathise with!

Fair play to the lad, he has been nothing but honest and quality since he started with us. We should get the maximum cash amount for him, around 25mil hopefully, and then invest in a quality striker to back up Torres, or a really good winger.

  • higgo says:

zahid get real, forlan could,nt cut it in the pl before and he said he’d ever return to england, carlton cole, former chelsea reject.
you obviously hav’nt seen enough of doyle and what he brings to a team, great with his head, holds up the ball brilliantly and has a great work ethic, dont comment if you hav’nt watched him properly.
he’s bein brilliant at reading and wolves, can only imagine he would be even better with quality players around him
