“I am disappointed and angry. So I want to leave”

|

Young Liverpool defender Chris Mavinga has stated he would like to leave on loan to get more first team football. He believes that Roy Hodgson is encouraging English players at the expense of foreign ones. He said to France Football:

“I am disappointed. I thought that with the success [of France’s Under 19s Championship triumph] and my performances there I would be given the opportunity to train with the first team and play parts of games, the 19-year-old French defender told France Football. But a new coach arrived. Roy Hodgson, who replaced Rafael Benitez, and he is changing the organization of the club, trying to encourage English players at the expense of foreigners, unlike his predecessor. He clearly stated he wants to remake Liverpool as an English club. You already feel it in the reserves, although it’s a choice, we must respect.”

Mavinga stated also that although he had spoken to Hodgson, he doesn’t believe he will get a chance in the first team with the number of players at the club:

“Yes, I spoke with him briefly, but he did not say much. The problem is that there are too many players training with the first-team squad, 28! So, while Rafael Benitez allowed me to train with the pros during the second half of last season, I have now returned to the reserves.I am disappointed and angry. So I want to leave, why can’t they loan me out? I love this club, but if the situation requires me to go, I will.I’m not asking to get straight into the first-team. I just want a fair opportunity to train with them. I hope to find another club. It’s difficult, given the market situation. In addition, Liverpool are not keen on loaning me out. If I don’t leave this summer, I hope I can do it in January. But I will not stop working even if I stay with the reserves. I want to reach a good level.”

    this is an interesting article.

Its good that ROy is making the club more english, but surely it can’t be at the expense of good foreign players (which mavinga supposedly is).

Of course he might just be getting a bit huffy, but he said himself there are 28 players training with the first team! That is a ridiculous amount. Another odd rafa decision there then. I suppose there may be teething troubles if Roy is putting the first team on a more traditional footing, in regards training and first team membership.

  • Vinny says:

Well big surprise there, what kind of moron is Roy to want to ‘remake Liverpool as an English club’. You can’t dictate where the talent comes from, just make sure that you’re there first and get them to sign for the club. Yes we are an English club but the best young playes aren’t English, you can’t let the kids nationalites prevent you from doing your job. By the way, your job is to find and develop the BEST young players in the WORLD!

Obviously Mavinga is not in Roys plans making the club English at the expense of losing better overseas talent is ridiculous.
Mavinga probably should have had a go against city as Agger looked a bit exposed as left back.

  • YNWA says:

More English – we cant afford to re make this an All English squad. Best players for the Job and Mavinga sound like quality

  • RedMist!!! says:

This kid is not ready for the first team!

Quite arrogant and disrespectful to Liverpool of him to make this outburst!

    get rid Liverpool!

this is yet another example of cheeky b syndrome, it is most common in football, it is dormant when out of form or injured but after a a few decent games the ego speaks, like tim cahill last season. it is only marginaly less prevelent than unbelievably cheeky b syndrome, this malady comes along at world cup time, then the totally out of form and long term injured decide they are somehow worthy of a world cup place, witness one albert riera and ryan babel.

oh just shut up your moaning you’re 19yrs old and there’s players like Kelly, Ayala, and Wilson who are in the same age group but are better than you and they don’t come out moaning about having no chances to play. and all this about RH not giving foreign youngsters a chance is a bit off too considering we had Suso, Ayala, Dalla Valle, Gulasci, Wilson and Hansen training with the 1st team during pre-season and later Pacheco should show you there’s probably something you are not showing the manager.
In my opinion, like i’ve already stated, you need to shut up and prove the manager wrong for dropping you and force your way back in after all YOU ARE ONLY 19YRS OLD mate and have a long way to go in your development!!!

  • Derick says:

Yes i agree with u pal. But sometimes it hurts when u’re really workin hard & the boss is not paying attention to you. I understand mavinga’s frustration he deserves a chance. Yesterday’s game at city was horrible, Gerrard was the only real man for liverpool on the match. Hope we recover with a 6-0 bashing of westbrom! COMMON LIVERPOOL. YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE! i must admit that yesternyt i walked alone.

  • Bheko says:

Come on Derick, Gerrard the only real man for LFC yesterday? I love the team too mate and Stevie but yesterday all our boys were atrocious at the least and there’s no need to be so pro-Stevie every time, All of them were utterly rubbish and that’s a game we would all do well to forget!

  • Aj says:

Nah I don’t agree. He was bought in as he can play left back and centrally and is a fantastic prospect touted as a future French star. If he doesn’t get played however they should loan him out but only to some team in England.

  • jason says:

i agree that roy is not the man for the liverpool job. he is just not good enough. In january, we sure out of the 4th Cl place. another season without Cl, next season i confirm will see torres, gerrard leave. I also agree that Roy is the worst manager in liverpool history since 1892….

  • stan howard says:

roy has identified the admittedly obvious weakesses that rafa seemed to be blind to, a left back and a striker, he will get both this week, i am much happier with roy as our manager, he is the man, torres and gerrard WILL scores 45 – 55 goals between them if both stay fit for most of our games

  • stan howard says:

oh and they were lucky to win the under 19s spain were the better team

  • Jay says:

Bit harsh there Akash – unless it was sarcasm.
I wasnt in favor of hodson going to liverpool myself though it’d be better to keep Rafa as bar mourinho there wasnt realllly anyone that id prefer. BUT hes our manager now and as a liverpool fan i’ve gotta get behind him even with his questionable transfer targets. If he can make it work and trusts in his preferred players and brings trophies i couldnt care less if id heard of them before!
    C’mon Woy! YNWA

  • Jamal says:

give this player a chance.thats whats wrong with a lot of you english fools.how old was insua, gibbs gerrard ,beckham when they first got in the team .all this kid wants is a chance to train with the 1st team.liverpool always overlook their young talent like nemeth great prospect coming in to this great club but leaves before given a chance

  • Zahid says:

Well said Jay i wanted Rafa to stay than get Roy, only Hiddink or Mourinho would i have like to replace him, However Woys the man in we need to get behind him and as lastnight proved hes got a big job on his hands and will have an even bigger one if we go against him already, i dont see him lasting longer than 2 seasons, but lets show support. On Mavinga the lads a talent and France were not lucky to beat Spain i wanted Spain to win aswell but France were good aswell, i just hope the young lad sees his time will come, and stop hating the lad hes young we all made mistakes at his age. The what happens in Anfield stays in Anfield era has gone when Houlier was around with the Fowler Thomo situation, then Rafa came and carried it on, just hope it can go back to it but not likely with Twatter and Facebook myspace etc around……YNWA

  • fergus says:

cheeky little brat – his momma should spank him!

  • stan howard says:

how old was insua when he got in the team ?
how did he ever get in the team ?
when pachecco and mavinga think they can threaten their way into the team its bad news,
coady had a good under 17s tournament should he start shouting his mouth off, are any other members of the french and spanish teams shouting their mouths at other clubs or is it just at liverpool. ive one word for macherano and these spoilt btats, JAVANOVICH not he has the right attitude and deserves to get on.

  • vincent says:

When you are 19 and talented you have to believe you deserve an opportunity. Looking at our lack of options at left back, you can see why the lad wants a chance to impress, so give the lad a chance to prove himself. Passion for the club, is needed, in all our players and it seems this guy loves the club. If the team can pull together, we might be okay whenever this sorry takeover business is over.
