Gunners to rival Reds for Swiss star?

Voetbal International are reporting that Arsenal are set to rival Liverpool for the signing of Basel’s Swiss starlet Xherdan Shaqiri. The London club are apparently weighing up a move for the 18 year old in the January transfer window. Liverpool are also rumoured to be interested in the player with Roy Hodgson using his Swiss connections to follow the player’s progress. Shaqiri burst onto the international scene with his spectacular goal against England in the Euro 2012 qualifiers a couple of weeks ago, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, some of Europe’s top clubs will look to buy the player on the cheap during the next transfer window.
