Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz has praised new Liverpool signing Raul Meireles. Talking to Goal.com, the 57 year old praised the midfielder’s all round ability and character:
“I think Raul Meireles is a fantastic player in the national team. He’s one of the pillars of the Portugal team. He’s a great player and an excellent professional. He has all the conditions to be a success in English football at Liverpool. They have just signed the services of a player who stands out for his application, his professional dedication, his technical and footballing quality, and will be very successful for the Liverpool team. He’s a box-to-box midfielder, he’s hard-working, creative, is a good finisher, he’s consistent, very solid, a great team player. He’s a great person who is serious, he’s a player who has a lot of capacity to communicate. He’ll be a great reinforcement for the Liverpool team.”
Meireles has had 38 caps for Portugal, scoring six goals while claiming four Portuguese league titles for Porto at club level as well as three Portuguese Cups and three Portuguese Super Cups.
If Meireles brings at least half of his form for Porto to the Prem, he will be a sensation.
Hopefully between him, Cole, Torres and Gerrard they can save us from being relegated!

David Amoo will provide width and pace. Pacheco will blossom and Kuyt can deputise for Torres.If Cole plays to his full potential we will be in the mix in April.Ye of little faith, this season will bear fruits:quell your anger and save your prayers for Torres cos he needs it.

Why do all Liverpool fans think we need to sign Arda Turan because he looks skilfull on Youtube , an average player could look good on youtube, he is skillful and he’s good but maybe not good enough for Liverpool and if you are looking for pace he is actually quite slow if you watch him play and Roy and Rafa have both looked and him and decided against pursuing him so that says something , this year Roy asked if he could have money to sign a top quality winger{thank you for all the big spending as promised Hicks you lying sack of s**t} and it wasn’t Turan it was Ashley Young who is a much faster, more skillful and premiership proven player with good delivery.
Forgot to comment on Meireles who I am absolutley delighted we have signed in a few months people will take notice of what a great player this guy is and £10.5m will turn out to be a bargain also agree with giving some youngsters a chance but at the minute only the likes of N’gog,Pacheco,Kelly,Wilson and Spearing are good enough to get near the first team while Amoo ad Eccleston are not quite ready. and Anock the rest of the team did provide goals but Benayoun and Riera are gone and our solid base of Alonso and Mascherano is gone we have to foret about that and build a new side keeping the spine sell Aquaman£13m, Babel£9m, Lucas£7m, Insua£4.5, Degen£2m,Ayala£2m and Buy Ashley Young£18m,Carlton Cole£9m and Lassana Diarra£8m.
JJ i am totally agree with you. You speak my thought. But i am rather choose Amoo or Eccleston than choosing N’gog. Anyway, they all need a change to shine in the first team. I don’t expect Liverpool to get anything this season. What i am really hope is these youngster giving a chance to play. Why we need to buy? Keep the money, buy a high profile players or settle the club recent debt.
We do need width? But I think with this formation would get the witdh and because we’ve not signed a striker Gerrard could be the man.
