A controversial solution to our striker dilemma?

|

Here is a possible solution to Roy Hodgson’s striking dilemma for Liverpool in the January window. Get Robbie Keane on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the season.

Controversial, I know, but the Spurs and Ireland forward is never short of goals either for club or country, having just scored his 45th against Russia on Friday night from the penalty spot. The Irishman is infectious in his attitude, application and dedication and weighed in with 4 goals for Liverpool in his previous ill-fated move to Anfield under Rafa Benitez.

However, under new Manager, Roy Hodgson, he could be the perfect foil for Fernando Torres. The fact that we have a new manager and soon, a new regime at Liverpool, ought to be enough to convince the Irishman to complete some unfinished business at Liverpool. If I were you Roy Hodgson, I would definitely make a move for the out of favour Tottenham striker in January.

    no way!

  • Jab Me Alonso says:

Loans are never the same and we already had him on loan once and it cost us £6million!!!! But him for £18 mill sold him for £12 mill six months later. Harry Redknapp has no intention whatsoever of selling a player to LIverpol in case we nick 4th place off Tottenham. He wanted us to may £12 million for Crouch!!!

roman pavlyuchenko a way better option…he can play behind and up front

  • RoyK says:

Well then let’s thank god that you aren’t the Liverpool manager.
1)Which position do you sacrifice for Keane to play? Remove Jovanovic/ Kuyt(which ain’t gonna happen) and move Gerrard on the wing to allow Keane to play alongside Torres or just off him?
    2) Since there’s no clarity about the ownership situation & along with the Hodgson’s future, this article makes no sense at all!

Lol, what an idiot jouno, keane joining us from spurs is like chelsea loaning berbarov from man utd.
    What an idiot.
If u are gunna start mentioning possible players atleast use realistic ones!

    @royk
what position do we sacrafice for ANY new striker, your logic doesn’t make sense, stevie wonder can see we need a new strike partner for nando, i’m not saying keane is the answer but surely we need to make room for someone!

    Definate No No.

We bought him thinking he was brilliant, but he has since proven that he is well past his prime.

There are much better opinions out there.

For me a brilliant option would be Llorente. Strong, yet fairy pacy, able to play on his own, or take the knocks to give Torres a bit of a break from taking hits off defenders and is able to score pleanty. He would be a great option for me.

This is clearly from someone who does’nt know anything about the type of striker we are looking for. We are odviously looking for “hold up men”, a physical presence for Torres to play off and Keane is, or should I say, has been, alot of things, but a great physical presence is not one of them. Klose would be a bargain or Kessling. Both good types that we’re looking for.

I would love to have him back, he’d be the perfect foil for Torres and his goalscoring record speaks for itself. I was disappointed when he was sold back to Spurs after just six months and we made yet another loss. He did score 5 league goals and 2 champions league goals including a crucial equaliser against Arsenal so I don’t think he did that bad as some people seem to suggest.

  • Dave says:

You’re a ‘FOOL’ go away with your silly ‘idea’

  • Rememory says:

Do you actually think we could get him? Buying or loaning players comes down to more than ‘i want that one’ the team selling the player has to agree to the deal too and Spurs won’t do that for us now they see themselves as a big team

  • Jay Wright says:

he wasn’t the solution two years ago, and he wouldn’t be the solution now – just another problem – another aging player with no pace and no real position for us

  • anteater says:

I think we can do without a guy running around the pitch waving all the time so his mum back home recognizes him on the telly.

  • omg says:

I think until we have better funds for the club, this would be a good cover for El Nino, Keane’s fast, skilful and with a decent finish on him as well, go for it Roy

  • LFCDIEARD says:

good player but definitely not for us!!! he had his chance didn’t convince anyway in the actual state any option is most welcome so who knows????
