Broughton: We will take legal advice over Lim’s bid

|

Speaking after Liverpool’s High Court victory, Chairman Martin Broughton was asked about whether the reconstituted board will talk about other bids at tonight’s meeting.

Question from reporter: Do you have a duty to consider any of the other bids that have come in that may be higher?

Broughton: We will take legal advice on this.

Bidder Peter Lim has spoken after Liverpool’s High Court victory:

“I welcome the decision of the court. I hope that when the board is reconstituted tonight that it will not simply ratify a sale to NESV but will consider all the offers before them. I am asking the board to run a full and fair process that enables all of the offers to be considered on their merits before the future of the club is decided. I have delivered my offer to the board and believe that my ownership represents the best option for the future of the club and its supporters.”

NESV believe however they already have a binding contract with LFC and that the sale will be ratified tonight:

“NESV welcomes today’s High Court judgment, which is a huge step forward for Liverpool FC,” said a statement from the Boston-based limited liability company. NESV has a binding agreement in place with the board of Liverpool FC and we are looking forward to concluding the deal. We are ready to move quickly and help create the stability and certainty which the club needs at this time. It is time to return the focus to the club itself and performances on the pitch.”

  • Tonight should be interesting !!!

Very interesting, especially if there is already an agreement on the sale to NESV, could be another court case on the horizon!

  • Do we not learn from the mistakes when we sold to the 2 cowboys? Both NESV and Lim bids have possitives and negatives but which would people choose

1 NESV – Another set americans ! I like the idea of redeveloping Anfield – its our home, a new stadium will not have the same aura (see ManSheikhy and Gooners).

Limited funds and what is their short term plan for the team? Been here before with those 2.

    2. Lim – money not a problem and not the media type – which suits Liverpool. Fine he is willing to invest 40mil in Jan but what about after that.
Have read he wants to be happy and money for him has been the cause of alot of problems in his personal life hence him giving away money by the millions. Sounds the humble type which is the Liverpool way.

    Hmmmmm !!!!!!!!!1

i don’t think we should tar ALL americans with the same brush, nationality isn’t relevant!
i think the deal with nesv has been struck and to pull out now, as we did with DIC, would further tarnish the image of our beloved club!
unfortunately the calendar determined the actions of the board, we needed this done and dusted before friday.
i personally would have preferred to tap into the asian market because of the financial benefits, although not necessarily with the man-ure supporting Lim, but right now, liverpool need to be seen as a club with integrity and therfore honour the agreement with NESV and start to rebuild our great club, we can only take henry at his word and hopefully he will be a man with integrity

LFC NEED ONE OWNER RATHER THAN A PARTNERSHIP – ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’,unless the ‘FAN-BASE’ were to partner ‘STEVE MORGAN’-bring him back!!! That way most of the profits would go back into the ‘club’! The ‘NEW YANKS WILL TAKE OUT OF THE CLUB THE SAME WAY AS H & G HAVE DONE’
