Reds legend: I can’t believe they are questioning the man

|

Liverpool legend Ray Clemence has defended Roy Hodgson and can’t believe that people are questioning the manager’s abilities:

“I can’t believe after two to three months that people are questioning the man (Hodgson). He has managed and coached at the highest level. He got Switzerland to over achieve with his organisation and tactical knowledge. He has coached in different places in Europe. He made Fulham into an excellent side, took them to a situation they’ve never been in their history. Why wouldn’t he be the person to be given the opportunity at Liverpool? But he is in a situation which is not ideal by a long stretch of the imagination at the moment.”

Clemence believes the ownership situation is the most immediate concern:

“There was a massive job to be done and it has been hampered and hindered by there being no leadership from the top. Until that gets sorted out, it is a problem for everyone further down. Even if it got sorted out tomorrow, there is nothing Roy can really do until January. It is going to be a difficult time through to Christmas.”

We don’t need all of Roys buddies coming out of the woodwork and telling us what an awesome manager he is. We can see with our own eyes hes not up to the job.

Oh wow, I am so tired of these ex-players, all blaming the squad, the board, the fans, even previous managers; anybody but Hodgson! I remember when we’ve had a poor run of form under Houllier and Benitez, and all you could get out of the likes of Clemence, Lawrenson, et al is that these foreign managers don’t know what they’re doing.

Whoever keeps getting in touch for interviews with these so-called ex-Reds should think twice, as they really have nothing interesting (or more to the point: on a par with what the fans think) to say/add.

Well Ray Clemence you should just concentrate on your England job – doing a great one by the way -so far you have managed to ruin the career of every young goalie England have. Anyone noticed how awful English goalies are once they are called up to the England squad. Watch out Joe Hart!

I think managing Liverpool is the highest accolade is Roys CV, even bigger than managing Inter and the national teams hes managed and hes way out of his depth. I don’t see him do anything apart from sitthere during the game, he can’t shout or even stand up straight. Atleast under Rafa he had his hand signals even if we didn’t know what he meant lol but he did something and always had a plan B, which Roy doesn’t have. Roy needs to go now forget all the ex-players, hes lucky to have got the priviledge to manage us. Bring in Kenny to steady the ship and get them playing with passion again, then let the new owners get a manager of their choosing most likely Martin O’Neil……YNWA

What has this average relegation/mid table manager achieved in the last 5 years to say he is a great manager. i am sooo pissed and down hearted at the moment to see my beloved club sitting in the bottom 3, playing terrible football and have no shape. This would never have happened under Rafa. I’m not saying Rafa should have stayed…but we should have found a equivalent manager at least…not Woy Hodgson!!
