Reds midfielder wants ‘to fight’ for first team football

|

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva wants to stay at the club and fight for first team football. The Brazilian had a good game for his country against the Ukraine in a 2-0 win at Pride Park on Monday night but he has fallen out of favour under Roy Hodgson at the start of this season. New signing Christian Poulsen has been favoured over him and in recent weeks his appearances have been limited to the Europa League. The paper believes though that even if there is an approach from Inter Milan and his former manager Rafa Benitez, he would like to stay at Anfield and see if he can win over the manager and get back his place in the side.

Can’t figure out why Roy likes Poulsen more, the guy is as useless as Djimi Traore. Let Lucas play!

  • magnumopus says:

I think Lucas is far better than Roy’s pet, Poulson! Hope he does stay and fight for his place with the team. If he were to leave I think he would do best in Spain…

My gran would be a better alternative to Poulsen.

Lucas is a million times better than Poulsen.Roy’s got it wrong there.Just as he was beginning to come good he gets dropped.Anyhow good times ahead.Time to rebuild.

Good on ya son, never seen lucas hide during a game, that’s what we need just now.

Thats the type of spirit, commitment and passion that made Liverpool the best team in Europe and England. Poulsen is crap and needs ditching, good for you Lucas for setting an example to the rest of the team and club.

Good on Lucas for having a bit of fire in his belly, i’d like to see him push a bit further upfield and make a nuisance of himself (in a good way)…seems to be playing the holding role a little begrudgingly and when he surges forward, he shows some glimpses of what he’s capable of.

LFC manager should play lucas on the holding role,he is a top footballer and a world class midfielder. His positioning factor, ball distribution, classic movement off & on the ball is supreme and far better than poulsen.I liked him to former dutch phillip Cocu.

In a strange way Lucas being dropped for poulson is probably a good thing for him! I think it has made more fans appreciate what a good player he is! I’ve always liked the lad personally, good old fashioned values and a traditional style.

the type of spirit and passion that made lfc great! good on yer lucas!
ARE YOU LISTENING TO YOURSELVES GUYS?
i admit, lucas is better than poulsen but c’mon, NEITHER of them will ever be good enough to play for LFC! we need to sell the pair of them (or even give them away) and buy someone of the quality of diarra or benega!
can’t believe i’m reading posts from liverpool fans gushing about mediocre players like lucas leiva!
have our standards really fallen so far that we accept players who are average at best?
