Is this French midfield destroyer a good fit for Liverpool?

|

After playing for France’s Under 17s in the European and World Championships in 2007, M’Vila was given the captain’s armband for the Under 19s and duly helped the team to the 2009 Under 19 European Championships. He played all three group games but was suspended for the semi-final defeat against England. As a consequence of his Under 19 performances though, Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti believed M’Vila was ready for first team action at the start of the 2009/10 season.

He made his professional debut against Nice after coming on as a 80th minute substitute and got his first start the following weekend taking the place of the injured Junichi Inamoto. He played 33 league matches in total during the season establishing himself as a first team regular. At the start of this campaign, France senior coach Laurent Blanc called up M’Vila to the senior squad for the first time, and he made his debut for France against Norway in a friendly back in August. M’Vila has subsequently played in France’s last five matches, including against England at Wembley last Wednesday.

Young, energetic and physically strong, he seems to have all the attributes necessary for the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see whether Liverpool choose to pursue the player in January.

What we need is a strong and energetic defensive midfielder who can also pass the ball well. Poulsen’s obviously not the one but L. Diarra could do the job and he’d fit the bill but I’m not too sure about this guy M’Vila although he’s young and highly rated…
