Reds on alert as Bolton striker’s contract talks stall?

|

Liverpool are monitoring the situation with Johan Elmander’s contract talks with Bolton, according to the Daily Mirror. The paper believes that contract negotiations between the Swedish striker and Bolton have stalled, sparking interest from the Reds, Stoke and Newcastle. Elmander has been in form this season, and has scored eight goals this campaign, but his contract runs out in the summer and while Bolton are willing to keep Elmander on his large salary, his agent apparently left a meeting with chairman Phil Gartside without agreement. Elmander was Bolton’s record purchase back in June 2008 for £8million but he maybe available for as little as £3.5million in January due to the small amount of time left on his contract.

  • Eric says:

He may be playing well at the moment but he’s an average player who’s approaching 30. Not the type of striker we’re looking for but if he becomes a free agent in the summer then he can be considered.

Being that old and Scandinavian he will probably be ideal for Hodgson. He can go on the “someone to blame” side of the dressing room.

  • kenny says:

Liverpool should try and sign Andy Carroll, he would be an ideal foil for Torres. Liverpool need a big targetman and Carroll has huge potential. Mario Gomez is too expensive and NESV are not going to sanction transfer fees of 25 million and salaries of 125,000 a week for a guy who is playing in an inferior league to the Premiership.

Benzemaaa. look how well elder strikers have done here in the recent past, Morientes, Keane and Voronin?
