Roy: There are “no magical solutions” to this problem

|

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson believes there can be “no magical solutions” to the Reds poor away record this season. The Reds boss believes they can only improve by working hard at their game:

“You have to build up solutions to picking up more points on the road and you do this by playing well. That’s all you can do and if you are not playing at the top of your form there is no magical solutions to that. We have got a point at Birmingham, got a victory at Bolton followed by another point at Wigan so it’s not as catastrophic as the matches we’ve lost at Manchester City, Manchester United, and the derby at Everton. At the moment we don’t claim to be a team that can sweep everything in front of us aside. We have got a way to go before we reach that stage but we are working hard at it and will continue to do so.”

Liverpool go up against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

no magic needed – attack teams and you’re more likely to score goals and pick up victories.

Then play players in positions to which they are familiar and naturally suited and they’ll perform better (e.g. Meireles & Shelvey are central midfielders rather than wingers or support strikers, Jovanovich, Babel and Kuyt are wide forwards rather than wide midfielders and Maxi is a bench/reserve player!)

I thought that Hodgson was supposed to be a logical, common sense type manager!?

all this continued paper talk about reina going can be traced directly back to the unthinking answer (yet again) that hodgson gave to the press when asked about it.

  • vinod says:

roys style of football is pretty similar to morhinos.Defend together attack together and catching oppnents on counter attack..3 to 4 good attcking signings will make a significan change..despeately need to buy lassana diarra..we look very organized at the back now…

    • Jay says:

where do you see our team attacking together Vinod?? It’s consistently been 1 striker + maybe 1 attacking midfielder isolated against 4 or 5 defenders, with 4 men in a nice pretty line 30 yards away.

Mourinho preached solidity through the middle with speed and technical ability on the wings. Hodgson concedes the midfield to the opposition, and plays with no width at all.

Mourinho would immediately try to get his team to chase a game if they were losing or drawing in the second half, as a single point was never his target. Hodgson is completely satisfied if his team isn’t losing, even if they are getting outplayed. Even if we are losing, he most likely won’t make a change until the 73rd minute anyway

I’m struggling to see what similarities you notice other than both men manage to put 11 men out on the pitch…

Totally agree Stan – how many times has RH given an interview and come across so depressing that it makes everyone think what the hell is going on.

In the long line of calamatous interviews Reina is the latest. Reading from numerous websites Reina was quoted about thinking about his future and the end of the season (I hope he doesnt leave he is our rock).

Now Roy – instead of coming out and saying what you did about Pepe and giving the public the impression that you were not bothered about him leaving why the Fcuk didnt you just keep your mouth shut or even say under no circumstances is he for sale or going to leave (agreed that you did eventually – like with torres).

He is really coming across as if he does not care about the nucleaus of the team and happy for them to go which is totally wrong.

Not being funny but we had Bush with his Bushisms now we have Roy with his Woyisms. We need a strong manager – time has come even after the recent upturn in form.

  • Lfc4life says:

    lol woyisms now that’s funny!

does anyone know why Pachec isn’t playing???

    what is it.. injury/stupid manager…

    anyone?

  • tee somethang says:

pliz roy go away now b4 u kill team.

  • Kris says:

i think roy has to shoulder the blame for the performances but so does christian purslow. he sold aquilani, mascherano, insua and replaced them with poulson, meireles and konchesky! jovanovic is rafa’s fault but i think rafa signed him as a striker (which he is – not a winger)

  • Cal says:

no magic needed, RH’s resignation will do just good
