Spanish Press: Reds willing to meet striker buyout clause?

|

Radio Cadena in Spain is reporting that Liverpool are considering making a move for Athletic Bilbao and Spain striker Fernando Llorente. The 25 year old has scored six goals in nine appearances this season, and his performances for Spain have really caught the eye of Europe’s top clubs. Both Manchester United and Manchester City are also believed to be interested in the player but according to the radio station, Liverpool are believed to be the front runners. It remains to be seen though whether Liverpool can break the bank for the player as his buyout clause is €36million; a fee that Radio Cadena feel could well be matched by Liverpool with their new American owners.

I really like this player and I think he would fit in very well, but I cant see us paying that much money for him!!

    • phil says:

I agree with you. He’s definately quality and perfect for Nando, but, like you, I don’t see us paying 28mil pounds. But you never know, if we put an offer in of, say, 20-22mil, they may be willing to except it. Bilbao are not a big club and will always need the money. Here’s hoping!

  • Joe says:

Paying a buyout that big for a player who seems to be pretty inconsistent (and lazy) seems a bit daft..

  • Eric says:

He’s a good player and his style of play suits the premier league but it’s not as if we’ll pay that sort of money for him. 10-15 million would be a more reasonable price for a player of his calibre.

  • vinod says:

not a good buy..need some one like tevez or rooney behind torres is wat we need ie who is a good finisher, who works very hard providing torres better space and who can play up front wen torres is injured..

  • daboy says:

Gomez will come cheaper and would be a better player in the EPL.

  • Aayush Sood says:

too expensive..moreover we need one or two quality wingers as well..plus a quality left back…cant c roy paying dt much for a striker alone…he’s goin to buy a “carlton cole” type player for sure..8-12 mill pounds, n den not perform n rot on d bench…

  • Connor says:

I agree with most people, i think he would be perfect for us too be honnest, more than any other striker we could get but i cant see us being able to afford him and id of thought he’ll be at barca next season or at madrid if they get rid of benzema

  • philC says:

i agree with daboy i’d rather get gomez from Bayern Munich instead although it would be hard as he is playing his best football for them in recent games. having said that in the last transfer window Bayern was trying to loan him out to us and he himself seems to want the move. Let’s hope Gomes still want the move. As for Llorente all i know of him is that his surname is also Torres, i believe he changed it because of Nando

  • moses says:

I subordinately agreed with the price because it is very important to get him in order to assist the forward attacker the Manager should go ahead and get the striker

  • vjm says:

For that much money I would prefer suarez

  • redbernie says:

love to have him alongside Nando and not in place of him

  • redbernie says:

love to have him alongside Nando and not in place of him as suggested by some reports

  • Silver Fox says:

My contact informs me that daboy and vrm are closer to the mark with also Vucnic of Roma as targets

  • bl007 says:

Possibility of two Fernando Torreses on the team line-up? WTF? LOL . Sign him up.

  • redbarry says:

I’m not too sure why everybody seems to jump on the bandwagon whenever we are linked to player in the press. Ok so he has scored a few goals this season – so what. If he is such a perfect partner for Torres why is that worldcup winning managers dont recognise this? Name a single game you have seen Torres and Llorente play together for Spain where they have been good. If you follow football you probably would have noticed that they are similar sorts of player and either 1 of them would partner david villa and they are usualy subbed for one another…… if Nando were to leave, he may be a decent signing, although not for that money…..but he is in no way a perfect partner for Nando
