The Most Obvious Change Roy Hodgson Can Make

|

Liverpool’s Fabio Aurelio is currently fit and sitting on the bench. Meanwhile, Paul Konchesky continues to start and has put in a string of poor performances at left back. The solution is staring the manager blatantly in the face but Roy Hodgson continues to persist with his former Fulham defender. Is it blind faith or is it poor judgement that Roy is sticking with the 29 year old? John Aldridge stated in the Liverpool Echo that the change looks like a no-brainer:

“With Fabio Aurelio seemingly back to full fitness and hungry for more first team action, Roy now has a big decision to make. It is no secret that Paul Konchesky has found it tough since he arrived in the summer; he has made a few mistakes, turned in a few poor performances and looks to be feeling the pressure. Aurelio has struggled big-time with injuries, but is an experienced player with real quality on the ball and excellent delivery from wide areas and set-pieces, and he must be knocking on the door now. With four fixtures in ten days, his time may be about to come.”

The obvious worry of course for Roy Hodgson is that Aurelio gets injured once again. He has been plagued with injuries and a long run of matches in a short space of time over the Christmas period maybe too much for his fragile body to cope with. The Sports Science team now in place at Liverpool should however alleviate the Brazilian’s problems and hopefully diminish the risk of another long term injury lay off. With four fixtures in ten days, there is obviously a fine balance to be made to not over playing him, and I am sure the Sports Science department will suggest that he plays only one match per week.

Aurelio is a quality left back who is much better than Konchesky. The guy can defend much better and he is fantastic in supporting the attack with his crosses and free kicks. Konchesky has done very poorly since his arrival and with Aurelio now fit, I hope Roy makes him first choice left back ahead of Konchesky. I’d be real pissed if Roy decides to stick with Konchesky when we’ve got a fit and better player.

More like a Lame-brainer! Forget any idea of Konchesky being dumped. The 29 year old is assured of playing each and every week as he is on the RH gravy train! Laugh? you got to!

  • Marshy says:

Only an idiot would pay £4.5m plus 2 promising youngsters for the useless Konchesky. Hodgson must be the most embarrassing manager around. Aurelio is a much better player than Konchesky, but the man who thought Poulsen was good enough, can’t see it. How NESV have persisted with him is a mystery.

Time to bring “the FSW” back, there is no comparison between Hodgson and Rafa. Hodgson is trying to cover up for his poor decisions, bringing Konchesky (The Pylon), Cole (never has been a superstar, somehow Hodgson fell for him) and Poulsen (the best dump of the lousy player in the history of Italian football) until he and Konchesky are run out of town. With every week of Hodgson staying the damage to the club is getting worse.

  • I don’t think hodgson will bring anything good to lfc. If hodgson can let aurelio on the bench because of koncheski.

  • Richard says:

….thought the most obvious change Roy could make was to retire.

  • Mike Arms says:

Decisions that the manager must make, but he won’t because he likes to play safe all the time:

    Reina
    Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Aurellio
    Johnson, Meireles, Gerrard, Maxi
    Cole/Jovanic Torres.

It’s not rocket science playing your strongest 11 in their strongest positions.

  • Big Al says:

Listen to Richard,he’s found the answer we’ve been looking for.I agree with you Richard cant fault your idea.

  • Mark says:

No – the most obvious change he can make is to quit
