Why I’m sad to hear of his imminent departure

|

It’s no secret that Milan Jovanovic’s time at Anfield has been unspectacular to say the least. The Serbian began the season as a starting 11 squad member and although his performances were mostly quiet, he was never so bad that he deserved to be reduced to limited appearances in the Europa League.

I must say that hearing he has apparently been transfer listed saddens me a bit because it’s clear that he hasn’t been given much of a chance to impress, and to be honest he’s looked pretty decent in some games. I remember watching him at the World Cup and being impressed by his speed and dribbling skills, while his goal celebration against Germany made me anticipate that we were signing a real character for the dressing room.

We all know Milan Jovanovic hasn’t been fantastic during his time here but if Andriy Voronin was given more than a season here then Jovanovic surely deserves until the end of the campaign at least to make his mark on our team. What started out as the signing of an exciting player who is the current Jupiler League Player of the Year, has now turned into a story of a player with some decent talent being frozen out by the manager.

I agree with this article as I don’t think Jovanovic has been treated fairly by Roy. You can’t expect the guy to set the Premier League alight in his first few games. He’s come in from a different league where his performances and goalscoring has been absolutely fantastic and he needs time to adapt to English football. True that his first few games here have been quite average but he deserves at least another chance in the team. I really don’t like the fact that because he hasn’t played well at the start, he has been dropped to the bench for three months. We know that this guy is quality, can play out wide and up front and is fast and can finish well. Hate to think because of old fat Woy he gets sold in January.

I find it an utter disgrace the way he’s been treated. First he was given the number 10 shirt and then went on record saying how proud he was to have it and then it was taken away from him. He has since then been used as a bit part player. This is a guy who is a full international and has scored in a world cup! Everytime I’ve seen him play this season he’s given us something that Roy clearly doesn’t like and that’s urgency and attack. Jovanovic’s first instinct is to attack, Roy obviously doesn’t like this and has cast him aside. He should be used as a partner for Torres, how the hell Roy can think Ngog can do a better job is beyond me. He turned down Real Madrid for gods sake to come to us and this is how Roy treats him! Shame on you Roy!

Agree with article and comments and if we are getting rid of Milan for poor performances or not being needed then we should be giving konchesky and poulson away for free and Roy should follow.

I’ll be gutted to see Jovanavic go, i couldn’t believe it when i saw we’d already signed a pre-contract agreement with the serbian snake over the summer…he needs a bit of a run in the team to stake his claim, which is unfortunately not really up for grabs when you’re mid-table fighting for you dignity!

I really don’t see why we would want to send Milan away after some competent, if not inspiring, performances – especially given that he has not had any opportunities to show what he can do in his preferred position. Given the dearth of strikers at Liverpool, it would be criminal to let him go at this juncture. Jovanovic moreover is the kind of player who – like Kuyt – works hard in every game and does not allow himself to become dispirited, which balances for our more creative but less consistent players like Torres, Johnson and Cole.
