The Daily Mail is reporting that two candidates who are believed to be in contention for Liverpool’s Chief Executive role are Liverpool’s existing commercial director Ian Ayre and Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell. John W Henry and Tom Werner have asked head hunters Spencer Stuart to make a global search for the Reds’ new CEO. Liverpool are apparently looking for a person with a business background who has an interest and experience of football, and both Ayre and Lawwell certainly fit the bill. The paper believes Celtic could have a battle on their hands to keep their CEO Lawwell.
