The Daily Mail is reporting that Celtic chief Peter Lawwell is still leading the race to become Liverpool’s next Chief Executive. The paper believes that Lawwell is now the strong favourite for the position, although he still has a big challenger in the form of Liverpool’s Commercial Director Ian Ayre. Lawwell has previously turned down a similar role at Arsenal but the new CEO at the Merseyside Club will be making many of the key decisions, as both John W Henry and Red Chairman Tom Werner are still learning about English football. The new Chief Executive will have an important part to play in deciding Kenny Dalglish’s future in the summer.
