Spurs ready to outbid Liverpool for £20m Torres partner?

|

Tottenham are ready to spend a great deal of their transfer budget to outbid Liverpool for Ajax striker Luis Suarez, according to the London Evening Standard. The paper believes that Spurs have been tracking the Uruguayan international for a while, and they now believe it is time to bid for the 23 year old as he is unsettled after the departure of manager Martin Jol from the club. Suarez is apparently valued at £20million by Ajax, and due to Liverpool’s interest in the player, Tottenham are ready to speed up negotiations to complete a deal.

I would hate to see us missing out on him, especially if Spurs win the race to sign him. We badly need a striker who can take the goalscoring burden off Torres and it looks like Suarez is a good option. He’s young and can only get better and his goalscoring record at Ajax is fantastic. NESV have to act quick to give Kenny the funds to make a couple of top quality signings this January if we are to fight for at least the top six. If NESV wait till the summer to spend on transfers then we won’t be able to attract top quality players. We need world class players NOW to improve the squad.

I think Spurs’ interest is a smokescreen to get the price up. They already have similar players to Suarez and aren’t going to pay £20m for him. Reckon the pool get him for £15m (if they put it on the table). Doubt whether Alex O-C goes for £10m up front..maybe 5m cash and another 5 or so in add ons. Coentrao for €15m would be good business. I reckon our biggest problem is getting shot of the peripheral players, particularly Konchesky and Poulsen.

Liverpool should have sold Torres to City last summer. Liverpool are one dimensional with Torres. NESV will only spend money that comes from player sales.
