Kenny: “Everyone at the club wishes him well”

|

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has explained the reason behind why he stated that Ryan Babel would be staying before he joined Hoffenheim:

“When I spoke to yourselves he was training and then there must have been some other discussions going on and by late afternoon he’d made his mind up to go. I think it’s a good move for Ryan, I think he needs a fresh start somewhere else. He’s a good lad, there’s no problem, it’d have been easy for us to keep him but I think it’s best for both parties. Everyone at the club wishes him well.”

Dalglish also stated that finances are in place for transfers but that progress with targets has been frustratingly slow:

“Everything’s in place, there is finance there but it’s difficult to get players at this time, and if we are going to bring someone in they’ve got to be better than what we’ve got. If we don’t get anyone it won’t be for want of trying. We can’t stop other people talking about ourselves in newspapers or on television and we can’t stop rumours but we’ll just do our business the way I’ve said – when we have something concrete we’ll tell you. Having said that, I thought the Ryan Babel thing was concrete!”

This week it is former Liverpool WAG Joanna Taylor!

I am starting to think that with no-one coming in during this “window” Liverpool will not be keeping Dalglish in the summer! 🙁

If that’s what you are thinking, your an idiot.
Kenny is not going to waste money making last minute purchases at overinflated prices, unlike I might ad his predessor. Buying poor players has led to the problems we have now.

Don’t b too fast in calling names.
What if its a waiting game by the owners because they don’t want a temporary manager to sign players that might not be needed by the next ‘long term’ manager, if kenny & co are not retained. Or can anyone explain why we bid £12.7m for a player they(ajax) regarded as most important in the team n also their captain……. Nothing is impossible

Kenny’s not the ‘active ingredient’ in the wheeling @ dealing involved in the transfer market, he’ll declare who he wants and leave that for the likes of Werner @ Commoli et al to sort out. Results and a sustained improvement on the pitch will see Kenny kept on beyond the summer.

Personally I wouldn’t be too disappointed if we get nobody. Let’s face it, our season is pretty much over. Both Spurs and City have to throw 4th spot away for us to get it and if we don’t win the Europa League I won’t shed too many tears. Worst case scenario, touch wood Torres gets injured, will give Ngog, Pacheco or even Kuyt a chance to prove themselves – nothing to lose. This transfer window is crap anyway, not too many options on the market and over inflated prices. Only real benefit to get someone now is to give them 6 months to settle into the team for next season.

Big mistake letting Ryan Babel leave. With Kenny as manager I thought he was going to get a chance in the first team and the manager subbed him on against Manutd and he did a decent job. Babel is a quality player but it was just that both Rafa and Hodgson didn’t quite give him a proper run in the team. Deadwood like Konchesky, Lucas, Poulsen, Jovanovic, Maxi and Ngog should be heading for the exit door way before Babel should. These players should be sold instead of Babel.
