Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge couldn’t contain his anger at the actions of Fernando Torres. Writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo, he said:
“Fernando Torres is a fake and a fraud who has spat in the faces of the Liverpool supporters who idolised him. In his book the striker talked about how much it meant to him to be a Liverpool player. He spoke about the history and tradition of the club and how much he loved the city. He seemed to embrace Liverpool’s values but now we know he didn’t mean it. It wasn’t real and I’m sure he will be saying the same things about playing for Chelsea. Torres is simply a mercenary who has gone for a huge pay rise. Liverpool fans stuck by him through thick and thin this season. They made excuses for his poor performances about his injuries still affecting him. But all the time Torres was taking the club and the fans for a ride. Once he had put in a transfer request Liverpool were right to let him go. There’s no point keeping someone who doesn’t want to be there. My five-year-old grandson refused to put his Torres shirt on over the weekend because even he was disgusted with him. Torres will say he’s gone to Chelsea to win trophies but there’s no guarantee he will achieve that there. Okay, they have a better squad than Liverpool but they are in transition as well.”
Aldo also praised Kenny Dalglish for his shrewd transfer dealings:
“Torres is gone now and with the money we’ve raised from selling him and Ryan Babel we’ve signed two quality centre forwards in Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. That’s very shrewd business by Kenny Dalglish. I’ve always been a massive fan of Carroll who is the best up and coming young striker in this country. He’s made huge strides in a short period of time. He’s like a better version of Duncan Ferguson who was a terrific player. He’s excellent in the air, has a good touch and plays with a lot of passion. When he made his England debut against France I thought he was terrific and Liverpool have got a great prospect. He’s proved his quality over the past year and has changed more games single-handedly for Newcastle in that time than Torres did for Liverpool. People have questioned the price tag of £35million. Of course we paid over the odds for Carroll but it’s all relevant. After all Torres was overvalued as well.”

Well said Aldo! Let’s see how Chelsea fans treat him when he’s always injured coming back from his No. 2 priority…. Spain …. I say No. 2 cos obviously His No. 1 now appears to be Money! Torres only wanted money. Once Liverpool offered him a lot of money to play for them. but since than ManCity and Chelsea uped ther paying for their players and when torres found out he can almost double his salary, it was the end. Look what happend to lascot and adebayor who transfered temselves for money and only for money. but why should Torres worry? In two years he’ll find another team who will pay him 300M a week and leave chelsea as well.

at Pool till he retires.Don’t forget the mighty Kop fans also burnt Gerrard’s jersey when he was leaving a few seasons back.No matter what way you dress it up,he didn’t leave because of death threats,to his family.They also tried this with Torres,but he won’t have a family living in the area.We all know Liverpool have a great past but you can’t live in the past forever.Chelsea are a great club,with a proud past history.Every club has a history, some winning more than others but all just as important.The one with the best recent history is ?
All the comments show how classless Liverpool have become. Torres is Spanish born and bred, he comes over and tells all you scousers what you want to hear…it doesnt mean he has to stay at your club until he dies ffs!!!!

Liverpool F.C expect it and so do the fans. Most of our former players/stars are still affiliated with the club in some form or another. You don’t see that with many other clubs.
Chelsea is just another superficial, soulless club with a few wins in their back pocket convinced they are the next best thing. Well you lot have a long long way to go. It won’t last, your rich russian nonce will get bored and then you’ll be in a bit of bother.

We got 50 mill! for Torres, we thank him for the wonderful memories and 30 mill profit and move on in hope that he regrets leaving us, end of story.

Chelsea FC make me laugh, I have to say as a LFC fan I have respect for the majority of MUFC fans, their club – How its run and how they conduct themselves. CFC dont get it and they deserve Torres as he has proven to be dishonest. I dont mind losing him as a footballer we are better off, Its his actions that have erased his history at LFC. Well done LFC and Dalglish for handling this superbly.
