Five Goal Sterling to face Manchester United

|

Liverpool Under 18s will face Manchester United in the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup after the Red Devils beat Newcastle United 1-0. A goal from Ravel Morrison just after 60 minutes was enough to clinch a last eight spot and United will now have to make the trip to Merseyside where they will face a side probably including teen sensation Raheem Sterling. The Reds should be confident going into the tie after a 9-0 win over Southend in the last round. The tie will take place on Saturday week on the 26th February. Meanwhile, Kenny Dalglish was keen to keep expectations realistic about the likelihood of Sterling’s inclusion against Sparta Prague tonight. The Reds boss said:

“It would do everybody a favour if it was a bit realistic. It would help everybody if that happened. We don’t want to spoil a fairytale of a story, but we don’t want to spoil a young boy’s career either. So if we can help them, I think common sense can prevail a little bit, and if it does I think the boys can have a better chance. We have a babysitter organised for Raheem back at the hotel and he has to do his homework before he goes back to sleep. We’ll make sure he doesn’t miss out on any of his education!”

Sterling would become Liverpool’s youngest ever player at 16 years and 71 days if he appeared in the Europa League match.
