Lawrenson: Kenny “hell bent on breaking the golden rule”

|

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson believes that Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish looks set to break the “golden rule” in football of not going back to a former club. Writing in his column for the Daily Mirror, he said:

“Dalglish has made it clear publicly that he would like the job and appears to be hell bent on breaking the golden rule in football of never going back. Maybe he feels he has something to prove and unfinished business. But more importantly, he has an affection for the club like few others. Dalglish has Liverpool in his heart, in his system and the players know that. He is getting the best out of players. He has changed the system to get the best out of those he inherited and is looking capable of turning things around quickly. People questioned whether Kenny had been out of the game for too long. But the simple truth is that it seems to have only increased his hunger and appetite to succeed. You can see he’s enjoying himself and the players are playing with a smile on their faces again. With every win and good performance, Dalglish is making it even harder for Liverpool not to give him the job. In fact, it’s impossible to envisage anything other than Dalglish being installed on a permanent basis.”

Lawrenson also felt that the club were even heading towards a relegation battle before Kenny took over:

“When he took over, I though that finishing in the top half would be an achievement. In fact, you could argue Liverpool were heading towards a relegation scrap. So to be in this position now, with people talking about a push for the top four, is a remarkable achievement. It’s because everyone is pulling in the same direction. Everyone has responded to Kenny and his management style because of the respect he commands at Anfield from his achievements both as player and manager. Four straight wins – capped by the win at Chelsea – shows that Dalglish has got all of the players believing in themselves again.”

This week it is even more of Liverpool WAG Carly Zucker!

i’m finding it hard not to get carried away on the wave of emotion sweeping through anfield so i’m trying very hard to keep my feet on the ground. 4th spot, although mathmatically possible, will be a big ask! BUT if we can take 7 points from the next 9, i will really start to believe!
my big dream now would be for our little club to finish above those european giants, chavski, 4th & 5th respectively would be the mother of all dreams…and a nightmare for el judas!

As King Kenny has said lets concentrate on the next game and at the end of the season we will see where we at. But with a return to “pass and move” football, players matching the passion and commitment of the fans and the club doing things in the “Liverpool way”, the future looks bright – very bright.

A BIG thank you to FSG for listening to the fans, now you can see what we knew – Kenny’s the man to restore our dreams.

been crying for years for Kennys appointment.
LVP lost their way for more than 20 years after his departure.we have more passes in the last 6 games than the whole season.NOW THATS THE LVP WAY.
just show faith in Kenny and the owners some cash just for a few additions (2 to 3) and we’ll be good to go.look at our system, adapting our players skill level into a sytem that can work.

for the first time this season , supporters have a smile on their face, and to players that dont want to stay, dont let the door hit you on your way out.

Does Lawrenson even make sense? He says Kenny is hell bent on breaking the golden rule but … well … he’s already broken it. He’s already back at a former club, how can he be hell bent on something when he’s already done it?

“Dalglish has made it publicly clear that he would like the job”

Dalglish HAS the job. Sure, he’d like it on a more permanent basis but let’s be clear, King Kenny is currently the manager of LFC. This is not some future prediction, some pipe-dream, it’s already happening.

Very odd choice of words by Lawrenson.
