Shearer: “He will be a tremendous asset to Liverpool”

|

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer was devastated to hear of Andy Carroll’s £35million sale to Liverpool, but has backed Reds manager Kenny Dalglish to get the best out of the player:

“He is a huge loss, he has carried Newcastle at times this season. There are not many players like him. He is big, strong, very good in the air and has a good left foot. You get that ball in the box and there aren’t many that could stop him, but he will be a tremendous asset to Liverpool. Having worked with Kenny Dalglish I can tell you he is not only a great man, but a great manager. If anyone can get the best out of him then Kenny will. To work with one of the greatest football figures of the last two decades, I know he will learn the tricks of the trade from him and improve.”

Dalglish has also spoken about the signing of Carroll:

“He’s just a young boy with a great talent. He’s a big lad but is very good on the deck as well, he has good feet, he’s very strong in the air and he’ll give us a bit of presence up front. He’s a little bit different to what we’ve been used to but it won’t change our principles and philosophies of how we want to play. At the moment he’s got a bit of a knock and is probably a few weeks away from playing, but the signing wasn’t made to cover a few weeks. He signed for five and a half years and there’s a lot of weeks in that time when he’ll be fit and playing for us.”

This week it is even more of Liverpool WAG Alex Curran!
