Suarez: This is the most important club in the whole world

In his first interview as a Liverpool player yesterday, £23million signing Luis Suarez stated his reasons for signing for Liverpool. He told Liverpoolfc.tv:

“I am very happy to be here. For me this is the most important club not just in England but the whole world. That’s why I am very happy. . . Ajax knew I wanted to come and play here and they knew I wanted to play for such a big club. The only thing we had to do was reach an agreement. . . My aim is to work, to show the fans how hard I am ready to work. I want to put in lots of effort, to show people my capabilities. First of all I want to try and play as many games as possible and help move us up the table.”

The 24 year old Uruguayan international was then asked how much he knew about Liverpool:

“Liverpool is a very famous club. It is the most famous club in England. I watched Liverpool as a boy, I watched English football as a boy. Liverpool have great fans – the greatest in England I think. Once again, it’s a dream to be able to come and play here. . . My ambitions for the future are to do my very best for Liverpool, to try and learn more about English football and to become a champion.”
