So Why Is This Honduran Interesting Liverpool?

|

Major League Soccer team Toronto FC were said to be interested but it was SPL side Celtic who purchased the player back in August. He was handed the number 3 shirt and has started most of Celtic’s league matches this season. In a man of the match display back in November, Izaguirre scored his first goal for Celtic in a 3-0 win over St Johnstone, and following some more impressive performances over the past few months, both Manchester United and Liverpool are said to interested in the 24 year old Honduran.

Speculation has increased since both Alex Ferguson and Kenny Dalglish have been present for recent Old Firm matches. Ferguson was present for the Scottish Cup tie a couple of weeks ago while Dalglish was at the league match on Sunday. Although both could be said to be present purely for the spectacle of the match itself, it is believed that both managers were in fact scouting Izaguirre. The Honduran would be best described as an attacking full back who has a very good delivery of the ball from out wide, but his defensive abilities have yet to be tested in a big European league. It would be a big step up from the SPL to the Premier League and it will be interesting to see whether Dalglish believes Izaguirre has what it takes to make it in English football if he opts for the player ahead of Newcastle’s Jose Enrique. It is believed that the Honduran is the cheaper option out of the two, rated at £4.5million by Celtic while Newcastle would demand a lot more for Enrique.

Kenny’s often at Parkhead so I think this is a case of 2+2=50

Their is no point in wasting anymore money on leftbacks. Leave Johnson their for next season and promote Mavinga to rotate with him in the Premiership. Sell Insua and Konchesky. Instead of the club wasting money on average players like this Honduran guy, the club needs to find a manager that has the guts and brains and motivational ability to actually bring all the highly rated youth players into the Premier League squad rather than Dalglish bringing five of them to Romania to watch a match that they could have seen on television.
