Are there any reasons for FSG to delay contract talks?

|

So why the delay in making the decision over Kenny’s future you may ask? One of the key elements in deliberations will be the interaction between Director of Football Damien Comolli and Dalglish. Comolli was FSG’s first appointment after taking over the club and he was put in the role of Sporting Director so the hierarchy was a lot similar to both the models on the continent as well as in Baseball. Considering Comolli was recommended by Billy Beane too, a man that FSG have a lot of faith in, means that the Frenchman does have a strong hold at the club.

With Dalglish used to working under the traditional English model, there could however be conflict. The two have seemingly worked well together so far but there have been suggestions that things maybe different if Dalglish was given a longer term deal. Kenny may prefer greater control of club affairs, like he had in his first spell in charge, if he signs a long term contract.

Despite this worry for FSG though, as Henry stated above, they anticipate speaking to Dalglish soon about his future at the club. It is fully expected that FSG will soon offer Kenny a longer term deal, but going by their previous record, Liverpool’s owners will not be rushed into anything and they will take the time they feel they need.
