The quest for fourth maybe just beyond us this season, but finishing fifth and qualifying for Europe is still within Kenny Dalglish’s grasp as Liverpool manager this season. Here are our remaining games for the 2010/2011 season:

Some tricky ties there, but who knows if we beat City, Spurs and Arsenal along the way, we might even finish in 4th. Fifth does look realistically within our grasp for sure.

Is Europa League really such a priority for Liverpool??i dont get it,some people are talking like if we dont play Europa League next year,we’re scre*ed!!damn people!!i think that if we dont play in that useless(at least) Europa League,we can concentrate on the Premierleague and get back where we belong next year,not Europa League but Champions League!!i’d rather Liverpool stayed out of Europe 1,2 seasons and 3 seasons later we stabilised our position in top 4 as we were the last years..Liverpool wont need to play in Europe to attract players to come play for us,we are LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB and we will always attract top class players..

The 1st formation has better cover in midfield and is recommended for derby games while the second could be the one to unlock the defences of smaller teams like Blackpool,Wigan(with no disrespect to them)..YNWA
totally agreed Steve – it seems some people can’t see beyond the end of their noses. The European League Cup is irrelevant to the best players and chasing it down this season is a waste of an opportunity to experiment with squad players/tactics that could be useful in a title chase next season
Chasing down the europa league irrelevant? Maybe, but I like to think we are actually chasing down the CHAMPIONS league, and if we fall short and end up in the europa league then so be it.
If as you say we should not be chasing down the EL, then it stands to reason we must have already ruled ourselves out of the CL and to me that reeks of defeatism (if there’s such a word but you get my drift)
I would agree with you re: experimentation if we were out of contention for the CL but while there is hope, no matter how slim of CL football next season then we should fight to the bitter end
I agree with Steve – from the way Liverpool played in the competition pretty much all year, it appeared as if they weren’t overly thrilled to be there. Getting back in the top four is much more important.
..although I must say, I can’t see Baines moving over the park…
I far as i remember, if 2 teams from the first five teams in the league is in the final of FA cup, then the Europa League place will be given to the league, i.e the 6th place where currently LFC is.
I just hope that 2 teams from the first 5 teams get into that final and LFC finish in 6th.

LOL and guess which teams are possibly playing the final. It’ll be either Bolton or Stoke vs Man City or Man utd.
If you want the 6th place to become a EL spot, youll need either Bolton or Stoke to break into the top 5, LFC staying sixth and Chelsea or Tottenham dropping to 7th. That aint gonna happen.
