Pacheco: “It’s obvious that all the Spaniards are leaving”

|

Liverpool youngster Dani Pacheco has hinted that he maybe looking to leave the Reds. When asked by The People about whether he would be staying at Anfield, Pacheco replied:

“It’s obvious that all the Spaniards are leaving Liverpool.”

Pacheco is on loan at Norwich City until the end of the season and could make his first appearance for the Canaries against Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

It’s also obvious that old-fashioned managers like Roy and Kenny prefer British youngsters and are reluctant to give foreign youngsters a chance. Wilson and Shelvey are promising but they are clearly not ready yet while Spearing is average at best. If they are getting a chance then why can’t Pacheco be treated the same? Also, surely Pacheco could no worse than players like Maxi, Cole and Ngog? Best player at last year’s U19 European Championship and Golden Boot winner as well so what else does he have to do to get into the team? Would be a big shame if he does decide to leave in the summer.

  • terabhap says:

totally agree, pacheco has been sitting in the dug out for ages, and has to be better than cole, jovanovic, ngog. even if he came on for 10-15 minutes against braga for maxi, he could ahve made the difference. whilst we are at it, spearing is average, so why not give suso a go? if joe cole cant do his stuff, put silva or ince on the wing… if we have the god damn plyers, why not bloody use them?

  • stan howard says:

pacheco got a lot more chances than nemeth, he might still come good – if so he can come back cant he ? raheem stirling is miles ahead of him or any other young player anywhere for that matter, dont believe this too young rubbish, he has special unique talent that renders age a irrelevent.

  • Fitzy says:

Listen we all hoped Pacheco was going to be the next little iniesta or pedro, but at the minute he hasn’t been tearing up trees to be getting a game, I think the loan move is good, think the kid should of went out earlier on loan and get some game time, same for a few other of the youngsters. Don’t rate that shelvey to be honest, hasn’t done anything to convince me he’s going to be good. Think this is just paper talk, hes still young, maybe these couple of months and this summer he’s grows a bit stronger and develops
And gets a run in pre season and see if he’s improving to what is needed. Sooner we get rid of these big earners with big reputations that are clearly not good enough, jovanovic and Joe cole the better

  • Andy says:

Fitzy spot on, it’s up to Pacheco to prove himself at Norwich. Stan Howard you’ve made a statement about Sterling which is impossible to prove, no one knows how good he is as he’s yet to play against men. Don’t get me wrong but football has a habit of amazing teenagers being no hopers Lee Sharpe anyone? I hope Sterling turns out to be the real deal but we’re too desperate for the “one” to come through we’re being like the Mancs in the 80’s with Beardsmore, Robbins et al. Give thelads time and hopefully it will come

  • Lfc4Life says:

It’s very sad that a very very average spearing has had his chances and Pacheco hasn’t!

Pacheco will be one of our clubs biggest mistakes if he is to leave without being given a real chance…

Iv watched him for Spain and in reserves and I’m left clueless to why he is not playing :/

And compare stirling to Pacheco shows how much some of our supporters really know….

    • Dunc says:

Spearing is two years older than Pacheco. Plus he’s a pretty decent defensive midfielder. Pacheco is an attacker who really should be scoring more regularly for the reserves. That’s probably part of the problem. He should easily be scoring 20 goals a year in the reserves.
How do you think he’s going to fair in the premiership where it’s harder to score?

      • Eric says:

If Spearing is really a pretty decent defensive midfielder then why was has he just forced his way into the first team at 22? Why hasn’t he represented England at youth level? Why wasn’t he playing regularly for the first team 2 years ago? Spearing is very very average and at best, he’s a mid table squad player. Pacheco is not a natural striker, he’s more used to play just behind the striker in the ‘hole’. He’s been our best player in the reserves for the past 2 years and he won the Golden Boot in last year’s U19 European Championship.

  • CB says:

If you have watched the reserves and u-18 for the last few years, as I did, you would know that Spearing has been one of our best players. I always hoped he’d come good and he made the first step forward in his career against Sunderland. Of course Pacheco was also good in the reserves, but he might not be doing pulling his weight in training or something. I also agree he can’t be worse than Cole.

  • rick says:

Pacheco had starts from both Roy Hodgson and King Kenny but He didn’t prove to be good enough to wear Liverpool’s jersey.
He never impressed in any game He was involved.
Meanwhile Jay S is obviously in a good learing curve, and He’s constantly progressing game by game.
Spearing’s performance at Stadium Of Light was undoutably really really good.
Pacheco should close his mouth and working hard at Norwich.
He threted himself like a Top Star Player, but just now He’s only a Player Who came from Barca, and He’s not a Player Who meets Barcellona’s standards….
Maybe He’s not the right attitude to be a Liverpool’s player.
To be honest, He never catchs my eyes When He get the call from the senior team.
On Shelvey: He’s a diamond, simply a diamond, I can’t see why some Fans are arguing that He’s not good enough.
Shelvey’s long balls are fantastic, He controls the ball well: He has all the cards to be a great Liverpool’s player of the future-

    • Eric says:

Pacheco had starts from King Kenny? Really? “He didn’t prove to be good enough to wear Liverpool’s jersey” He’s hardly been given a chance in the first team mate. Jay Spearing may be improving but he is not Liverpool standard. At 22, he will never be good enough for a top club like Liverpool. And what has Shelvey done to impress you so much?

      • rick says:

        I totally agree with Chris.
Sometimes young players simply struggle to fit themself to EPL standards.
I hope it’s not the case of Dani, but it’s hard to say He proved something when He get through the ranks. For example, this season I expect good things from Pacheco as He never impressed in Europa League.
We’ll wait some good news from Carroll Road about him….
On Shelvey: He has undoutably good skills: He passes the ball well, He has a good physycal set-up and his long balls are good.
Shelvey is a good prospect: Stevie G has good feelings about Jonjo.
Spot On Chris: Kenny is a great master for all youngsters of our Accademy.

      • Lfc4Life says:

        I’m not sure I understand….
Pacheco doesn’t score enough for the reserves??
but considered Spain’s most valuable player at the U19 world cup, player of the tournament and golden boot winner?

Somebody is missing a trick here and I’m not surprised That he may want to leave with the lack of 1st team action…

He scored 2 unbelievable finishes for the reserves, chipping the ball over the keeper from acute angles with bend and dip…
To do that once showed me what a special talent he is but to do it twice in the same month and still not get a sniff?

It’s a bad time to be Spanish at LFC…

Or it maybe just another way to make sure RAFA doesn’t back :/

    • jj says:

Shelvey’s long balls are fantastic! Great just what Liverpool fans want to see!

  • Chris says:

It amazes me that people think they know it all – Dalglish is giving youth more of a chance than either Rafa or Houlier and Pacheco will get his chance if he’s good enough – this loan move is the opportunity to really see what he’s made of. He needs to stop talking and start playing – there’s been all sorts of little hints from the staff at Anfield that, maybe, Pacheco’s believing his own hype (a bit like Plessis did) and that’s half the battle lost if that’s the case.
I remember a similar commotion when Nemeth wasn’t getting a game and look where he ended up – some players just can’t make that final leap to Prem standard and no amount of watching a player on the telly playing in youth tournaments and the reserves will enlighten a layman as to their chances of taking that final step.

  • daboy says:

Kenny is favouring the English kids no doubt Pacheco has sat on the bench numerous times and not had a run.
The few chances he has had have not been enough especially with the likes of Spearing Cole Maxi and Ngog failing consistently.
I cannot see Spearing at the club come August but sadly Pacheco will go as well just watch the clubs line up for him.

  • TSP says:

Apparently Patch has had attitude problems in training. This is hardly surprising as he has been built up as the club’s great hope for the future for 3 years. If he proves himself a hard worker at Norwich, he’ll be back next season and get his chances, no doubt.

  • TG says:

Pacheco should wind his neck in or he will be bombed by Liverpool!!!!

  • ds says:

Well, Pacheco has got a few chances under Roy. He only took one of them with his marvelous assist.

I thought he should’ve gotten at least one shot to perform under Kenny, but maybe he was just not good enough in training?
Maybe Kenny felt like Pacheco is on his way to become a torres-like virus in terms of social/mood affect?
I don’t really know, but we should look at his performances for the rest of the season and then decide.

Also, none of the youngsters have really impressed me much except for Kelly. Also, Wilson has done well whenever I saw him play, even though it was just a couple of times.
Shelvey has not impressed me at all, while Spearing is decent, but probably can only be a squad player at best.
I wish I could’ve seen Raheem & Suso play. They sound like good prospects, but hey, so did Pacheco, Anderson, and Carson.

  • steve says:

for 3 managers(Benitez,Hodgson,KENNY) not to play him, means that obviously he aint ready yet.remember some of his performances this season and the guy surely lacks confidence.against Steaua for example he was very bad.going on loan means that he will be playing games and getting better.i want a left back, two wingers and cover in the bench for Liverpool come summer.Leighton Baines,Ashley Young,Arda Turan and then some cover in the bench.Charlie Adam is also a good player.
    Reina
    Johnson Carragher Agger Baines
    Young Gerrard Adam Arda
    Suarez Carroll
    Bench:Gulacsi,Skrtel,Dann,Kelly,Izaguirre,Lucas,Meireles,Afellay,Marveaux,Bojan,Kuyt.YNWA

  • anakjin says:

gim him more 2 years and after that we slove the problems. look at his progress.. and than we will deside to keep or k.o

  • Matt says:

Maybe, just maybe…he’s not that good? Several managers have passed up the opportunity to play him, especially when we are in need of creativity.

I think he’s to small for the premiership and has become something of an icon to loads of Liverpool fans who thought the new Cesc was coming through. Heard it all before ie Nehmeth being a more natural goalscorer than Robbie Fowler, what happened to that lad anyway? Still doing pants in the Greek League?

    • jon says:

I presume you have not seen how big Spearing is for you to consider Pacheco is too small.

      • Carroll9 says:

There’s a big difference between size and strength. You can hvae small players like Wilshire, but they have the strength, composure and balance to mix it with the big boys. Maybe Pacheco doesn’t have this yet?

        • jon says:

The way you state there is a difference in strength and size seems a little odd here considering I was pointing out that Matt said he may be too small and he never mentioned anything about strength.
I gave consideration to what he said because we all can see that Pacheco has small stature and Matt rightly pointed this out.
Now your point about strength is purely an unsubstantiated assumption fuelled by the fact we all don’t know how strong he is because he is simply not being given playing time. It could turn out to be the reason but surely we cannot use this as areason for him not progressing because noone in management has said anything to that effect. Besides David Silva, Benayoun and Modric all have slight frames and are not the strongest yet this is not seen as a drawback and they all play in similar positions which require more guile than brute strength. Wilshire and Spearing playing in position that need strength as a minimum requirement.

      • Eric says:

So by your logic, Messi and Pedro wouldn’t be able to cut it in the Premier League because of their size.

        • Jay Wright says:

Lucas and Meireles are two extremely weak players (for their positions) and not much bigger than Pacheco either, yet somehow they’re accomodated in the team every week in positions where size and strength are far more important than for a flair/creative player in the final third…

  • John says:

Why are people obsessed with doing football manager team sheets with future transfers in them? Like why does everyone think were going to sign Arda Turan, like its a done deal?

Play footy manager all you like just dont come to me with your BS valuations and premonitions.

  • NICK BROWN says:

If we trust Kenny’s judgement, then something’s up with Dani – it’s reasonable to assume it must be his attitude because he seems to have the talent. When I have seen him play his movement and touch has made him more constructively involved in a game than the usual suspects (Maxi/Cole/N’Gog). Of course, we who look in from the outside will never know what is truly happening in the camp but when you consider other players who have been given an extended opportunity to show what they’ve got then the treatment of Dani seems strange. So, do we trust Kenny’s judgement and assume there are things going on we don’t know about?…

  • Kd7 says:

I hope Pachecco is on a long term contract to stop a Tom ince Scenario occuring.

  • Ian says:

Just because you star at the U19’s championship does not mean you have made it.
Anthony Le Tallec & Sinama Pongolle continue to prove that.
