McCarthy: Reds “will get a custard pie” if they bid for winger

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has responded to speculation linking winger Matt Jarvis with a move away from Molineux:

“Jarvis is not for sale at any price, no-one at this football club needs to be sold. At the moment, Ashley Young’s going everywhere; and by the way Jose Mourinho’s leaving Real Madrid, so I’m going there because it’s a natural fit. It’s not, of course. But I read that Jarvis is meant to be going to Liverpool or wherever and it’s a nonsense. He is far too valuable to us. If anyone comes knocking at my door they will get a custard pie. We need our best players. Why the hell should we sell him? He’s one of our best players, we’ve just got him in the England squad, so no he’s not for sale.”

Liverpool and Aston Villa are among the clubs said to be interested in Jarvis.
