Will this summer be a tipping point for LFC?

|

Going by Liverpool’s high standards, it is fair to say that this season has been yet another disappointing campaign for the Reds. We’re in 6th place and not very likely to be playing in Europe next season; we were knocked out of the Europa League without even reaching the quarter finals and our world class goalkeeper may be considering quitting in the summer.

There is one positive we can take from our current situation however, a piece of information that pundits and the media seem to be unaware of when analysing our team: our squad isn’t too bad at all. Sure, we have a few dead wood players who will surely be shipped on in the summer, but if you take a look through our squad there is a lot of cause for optimism in the near future. One of the areas of our team that has needed strengthening for a good while was our forward line. For too long we relied on Fernando Torres to provide the majority of goals but now we can say we have two top strikers who have the potential to form the deadliest partnership in the league.

In the case of Luis Suarez in particular, I believe we have signed a player with enough quality to establish himself as one of the world’s best footballers in the years to come. In our midfield we have the hugely improved Lucas, the highly impressive Raul Meireles and our legendary captain, Steven Gerrard while in defence, Glen Johnson has been a bit of a revelation playing at left back while Martin Kelly’s performances have been so good that Fabio Capello labelled him ‘an interesting player for England in the future’.

Add to that the fact that we have the best goalkeeper in the league playing for us (for the time being at least) and you can see why I’m so positive about the immediate future of our club. For the first time in what seems like a long time, we have owners who appear to genuinely want to move the club forward while King Kenny has helped bring some much-needed unity to the club. Dalglish will surely be awarded with a new contract after helping to instil a bit of consistency into Liverpool’s play, which means that he will hopefully have a say in which players we recruit in the summer transfer window.

A lot depends on Andy Carroll. I am still to see why the money was spent on him.
i hope he is just unfit and will be just great for us, however, i have not seen anything encouraging so far.
