Ayre “encouraged by initial discussions” over naming rights

|

Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre has stated that although no decision has yet been made over the stadium issue, he has been encouraged by some initial discussions about naming rights if the Reds moved to Stanley Park:

“We need to be absolutely clear here that the Club are yet to make a decision and are still examining all the options open to them, including a refurbishment of our existing home at Anfield and a new stadium in Stanley Park. A huge amount of work continues analysing all the relevant factors. Naming rights would apply only to a new stadium and would be critical to the viability of that project. We believe this is a unique opportunity for the right partner to be associated with one of the truly global names in world football and although it is very early days we have been encouraged by some of the initial discussions we have had.”

Owners FSG are still deliberating over whether staying at Anfield or moving to Stanley Park should be the preferred option, and naming rights could be an important factor in the decision.

This week it is former Miss World and LFC fan Rosanna Davison!

Agreed, I love Anfield but at present it needs a special dispensation to play in the Europe because the pitch is too small, plus if you’ve ever been past the Emirates you’ll know how antiquated the old girl is now!

Now that the Mancs have 19 it’s time to look towards the future and not get stagnated in our illustrious past (with the exception of King Kenny).

Have to agree with, ste. LFC ‘HAVE TO LOOK TO THE FUTURE’ A new stadium is ‘PARAMOUNT’!!!with ‘NAMING RIGHTS’!!!The club will continue to lag behind Arsenal(new stadium-Emirates),Man.City,(new stadium -sheiks etc),Chelsea(Abromovic/money bags),and Man.U who are already miles in front financially!!! If Liverpool FC want to close the gap they should forget about refurbishment!I have said numerous times before that a new stadium in the magnificent surrounds of ‘STANLEY PARK’ would be a great attraction, and would stand out and be seen from many miles around!

i think it’s ridiculous what all of you are saying. if we need to move forward, why did we RE-APPOINT our manager of 20years ago – this club doesn’t need to move forward in that respect. anfield is a fortress and a symbol already, moving stadiums will lose the atmosphere – which anfield already has – in the moving process, and a well noted and easy example of that is highbury to emirates. anfield is a unique stadium and with 60,000+ in that, which i can imagine is possible, especially after the space behind the main stand and anfield road, it could only improve things.

Stadiums dont make the atmostphere fans do. if we move stadiums it will be the same fans, the same noise and the same atmostphere only about 40% bigger, better and louder!!

I’ve heard that LFC are looking to build a new stadium, but the 2002 design rather than the recent one designed by Tom Hicks’ architect
