Eden’s Dilemma: Which of the five clubs will he choose?

|

Eden Hazard’s Lille team mate Aurelien Chedjou has stated today that the Belgian international has offers from 5 different clubs. The names in question are Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Liverpool. These are certainly the cream of the crop of Europe’s elite clubs, so how can the Reds compete without the prospect of European football for Hazard next season? Below, I look at the options for Hazard and see which destination is the most likely for the Belgian starlet:

Real Madrid – French legend Zinedine Zidane has tried to persuade the player to move to the Bernabeu, and it looks as if Madrid have heeded Zizou’s advice and have made a bid for the player. From Hazard’s point of view though, he couldn’t go to a worst destination as the likelihood of getting first team football is minimal. Not only do they have Mesut Ozil, Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Sergio Canales, Pedro Leon, Angel Di Maria, Esteban Granero, Lassana Diarra, Cristiano Ronaldo and Fernando Gago on their books in midfield areas, they have also signed playmaker Nuri Sahin from Borussia Dortmund and Hamit Altintop from Bayern Munich in the last month or so.

Barcelona – Like Madrid, Barca have the same proliferation of midfield players in their ranks. In addition to Lionel Messi, Pedro Rodriguez, Andres Iniesta, Seydou Keita, Sergio Busquets, Javier Mascherano, Ibrahim Afellay, Jeffren Suarez, Alexander Hleb and Xavi, they are also still interested in purchasing Cesc Fabregas. Hazard will be first choice at Lille in a team playing in the Champions League, why would he sacrifice that for a place on the bench, where like Afellay, he could be sidelined to just five minute cameos?

Bayern Munich – Probably a more likely switch than to either Real Madrid or Barcelona, the problem for Bayern is that despite being able to offer him a first team place, Hazard has already stated he wants to move to a big league. Bayern are no doubt a big club but is the switch from France to the German’s Bundesliga really a step up in class for Hazard? Franck Ribery made a similar move from Marseille, and managed to get to a Champions League final in the 2009/10 season but Bayern Munich are not the power they once were, and I doubt a move to Germany is really on the cards.

    1) Barcelona – i can’t see them spending the amount quoted for Hazard, because their main target this summer is Fabregas and they can hardly afford him at 40 mill.

    2) Bayern Munich – They have Robben and Riberi, they are also linked with Van Der Vaart

    3) Real Madrid – Where would they play him they have Ronaldo, Kaka, Higuein, Ozil, Di Maria. Therefor not guaranteed first team football, Mourinho will have to offload before he can spend most likely Kaka.

    4) Arsenal – Hazards preferred club, can we see Wenger paying so much for a young player eve nif hes highly rated? I think Wenger will only bid for him if Nasri leaves or Arshavin but especially the former, other wise where would he play again he would not be guaranteed first team football and would be wasting his tallent on the bench or reserves, we all know Weneger will only play them when he feels they are ready.

    5) Liverpool – For many a year now we have lacked natural width and Hazard is the man who could do a brilliant job for us they way hes spoken off from everyone whose seen him play. We offer the best deal if he wants to play regularly, plus we’ve shown the most interest in him other clubs have come in later on. I guess im being biased since im a LFC fan.

Which ever club he decides to go i wish him the best, unless its Utd lol However i really think we have a good chance signing him, then we did earlier on in the season……YNWA……JFT96

If you do not think the leap from French to German football is not a huge step up in class then you have not been paying much attention to world football.

    Edwn – PLEASE CHOOSE LIVERPOOL

  • Daniel says:

A player won’t join a club because he thinks he won’t get first team football, and if he did that is showing a lack in confidence and this could be a negative if edin hazard chooses us, and he seems abit like adel taarabt of qpr, yeah he looks amazing in videos but the premier league is a step up and he won’t get as much space to do all of his skills

Nasri looked class in France and still is, your right the Prem is alot harder and a big step, but when your gifted with tallent its about nurturing that wisely and getting the best out of him, something which i hope we have learnt from the Ryan Babel saga……YNWA……JFT96

I see liverpool as the best bet. We can give him
all the liverpool history and possible we are the only club to offer him a chance to win both the CL and the PL next season. YES next season.By loaning him back to Lille for the period they are in the CL,then returning to liverpool for the run in of the PL. This could be adeal maker he gets the best of both worlds

  • David says:

He has already said in the past that he prefers Arsenal. If they bid for him, he is theirs

    • zahid says:

True he has said this, but Arsenal will only bid if Nasri doesn’t extend his contract, Arshavin leaves, or may use the money from the Fabregas transfer.

However i just can’t see Wenger spending the money on Hazard that position isn’t a priority for Wenger, a Striker, Defender, Central Mid and a GK will be his main targets plus maybe a new left back if clichy leaves
