Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson believes that improvements to the playing squad in the summer could help Luis Suarez to become an even better player. Speaking to the Liverpool Daily Post, he said:
“This summer can make Liverpool stronger and Luis Suarez an even better player. The Uruguayan was terrific on Monday night in the 5-2 win over Fulham and he looks like a real player. I truly believe that if the club can add quality then Suarez will be able to show what an even better player he is. The prospect of him improving on what he has already shown the Anfield supporters is a magnificent thought to carry through the weeks after the campaign as finished. Suarez will always produce the goods but when Steven Gerrard comes back into the side, for example, he will spot the striker’s runs – his movement is excellent.”
Lawro also praised the performance against Fulham on Monday night:
“It was not just Suarez who made great a start to the game, the whole Liverpool side did. Fulham conceded poor goals from their point of view but they did so because of the pressure Liverpool put them under. It was interesting listening to Steven Gerrard say that is the way the team have been playing in training, with the high intensity and confidence. The side looked so lively and the passing was so crisp; it was an excellent performance from everyone concerned. It was certainly up there with one of the best performances of the season given Andy Carroll and Gerrard were not playing and the team had guys in who you would not class as first teamers.”

A couple of quick wingers like Mata and Arda Turan or Adam Johnson and Gerard in support would give us 5 attackers who can change a game with their ability and pace…. Lawro is right as a team with these players and two fast full backs will terrify the opposition….
Adam Johnson won’t be coming now that City are in the CL and Mata may not either when Valencia are more or less in next seasons CL and we aint, but i hope im wrong and he does come, would deffo like to see him then Downing in a LFC shirt……YNWA
