Rumour Mill: Irish Starlet to cost Kenny a hefty £8m?

|

The People are reporting that Liverpool and Chelsea are fighting it out for Wigan midfielder James McCarthy. The Irish international has impressed for the Latics since arriving from Hamilton for little over a million in 2009. The Reds had been interested in the player prior to his move from Hamilton and Assistant Manager Sammy Lee scouted the 20 year old in the match against Everton a few weeks ago and gave a glowing report back to Kenny Dalglish. The Reds are targeting 3 midfield signings, according to the paper, and are hoping to steal a march on Chelsea, who are also interested in the player. McCarthy could cost as much as £8million though, as Wigan manager Roberto Martinez rates him very highly.

This week it is former LFC WAG Gisela Molinero!

bargain! Got some flair- plays well in an average team and potential to improve.

James McCarthy is worth easily 15m. This player is quality and at 20, he will only get better. Liverpool should forget about players like Adam and focus on signing McCarthy, an excellent young talent. 8m for him is a bargain and Kenny and Comolli need to sign this guy as soon as possible and before Chelsea come sniffing around.

I personally like him, not sure he’s immediate 1st team quality but under KK it wouldn’t be long.

Shame he didnt come to us, when we tried to buy him from Hamilton.
We had a £1m bid accepted and he wanted 1st team football.
