Arsenal believe they have got the signing of Southampton midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the bag, according to the Daily Star. The paper believes the signing will be confirmed next week after high level talks between the Gunners and Southampton have taken place. The fee is believed to be around £10million, but there is still a dispute about how the money will be paid. The Gunners are believed to want to pay £6-7m up front with the rest in add-ons. Liverpool and others have also been interested in the young English talent.

This week it is former LFC WAG Jennifer Metcalfe!

Can’t wait to see King Kenny master plan cause we keep losing important targets!!!!

    • Leon says:

Everyone, the international transfer window does not open until July 1st unless you are out of contract – until then everything is just press talk.

      1 July – 31 August 1 January – 2 February France,[10] Germany,[11] Italy,[citation needed] Spain,[12] Scotland[citation needed]

The next 2 weeks should be telling

      • Leon says:

Although, in England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same association can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played. However, many transfers will not be completed until 1 July because many players’ contracts expire on 30 June. Outside of the transfer window, a club may still sign players on an emergency basis, usually if they have no goalkeeper available. Special dispensation from their competition’s governing body, for example the Premier League, is required. The transfer window restriction does not apply to clubs below Blue Square Bet Premier level. [18]
If the last day of a transfer window is on a weekend, the deadline can be extended to the following Monday at the request of those involved for business reasons.[19] The first shift of the deadline since its inception took place in summer 2008, when the deadline was extended by 24 hours to fall on Monday 1 September at midnight.[20][21] The transfer deadline in England was similarly extended to 5pm 1 September 2009, due to the August Bank Holiday. The German football league has announced to extend the January 2009 deadline to 2 February.[22]
Free agents can be signed by a club at any time in the season, if they had been released by their previous club before the end of the transfer window.[19] A club can request to sign a player on emergency basis, e.g. if several goalkeepers are injured at the same time.[19] In England, clubs from the Football League Championship to the Football Conference can loan in players from 8 September to 25 November and also from 8 February until 24 March.[23] An existing loan deal can be made permanent at any time outside the transfer window.[citation needed]

Liverpool FC have no chance of signing any of the players they have been after! The ‘New Yanky’ owners will not spend !!!

    • Mr Man says:

Erm, correct me if I am wrong, but haven’t they spent £75m since January? And are they not still trying to sign new players?

KK back from holiday now, so there will be some movement within the next month I’m sure.

  • Sanjay says:

lazy guys like kk,commolli and the americans.

  • Moocher says:

I think you need to wait & see who gets signed.. it’s still very early. Stop being impatient!!

    • Mr Man says:

Well said Moocher. NewsNow is great for gossip but pretty unreliable as far as LFC signings go. We need to trust KK.

  • dave says:

liverpool will make no decent sighnings, all there targets will go to other club due to liverpool snail pace in the market, and with kk and dc looking at players like downing, lennon, adam, milner(all overated and over priced)i can see another trophie less season once again

    • Mr Man says:

Everybody knows Liverpool are rebuilding, so it makes sense for players/agents/clubs to circulate rumours that we are chasing this player or that player in order to increase their value in the transfer market.

Just because of this gossip, doesn’t mean LFC are actually after them does it?

Here’s a tip: don’t believe everything you read via NewsNow. Believe what the horses mouth says.

  • Mr Man says:

KK has publicly said that all business would be conducted behind closed doors, and that announcements will be madevwhen they are ready to be made.

I share most LFC fans’ concerns over transfer gossip, of other clubs apparently beating us to signings (Phil Jones, Conor Wickham to name but two), and of the players we are allegedly going after that do not seem like the quality we humble fans want to see (Charlie Adam, Stuart Downing, Aaron Lennon, are these really good enough and exciting enough for the supporters?), but at the end of the day, this is all gossip and until the fat lady sings, I will trust KK to build his team as he sees fit, and reserve judgement till the team starts playing regular next season.

At Blackburn, he made players like David Batty and Tim Sherwood title winners, so although I may not like what I am reading in the gossip columns from NewsNow LFC about potential signings, I personally will be reserving judgement.

Sutton and Shearer were his strike force back then, in which we have Carroll and Suarez now, so hopefully a few more signings from KK and a good start to the season might make a few of these posters eat their words.

Let the haters carry on hating, and lets hope that there are more players out there that are willing to join KK’s Red Revolution.

Master Plan is very simple, NOT TO SPEND ANY MONEY, LEAVES A BIGGER POT FOR DC @Xmas!

Relax guys we will do very well even with the current team that we have minus Henderson. ALL the home grown lads ARE EXCESSIVELY overpriced. The sale of our previous No.9 & Ryan paid for Suarez & Andy, the new owners will hopefully give KK another 60 mil to spend. 20mil for Henderson makes no sense, glad we missed on Jones ( a lousier version of Terry/Ferdinand), any skillful player will dribble through him).

Keep saying, we need world class players- WE need someone like Aguero whose arrival would open the way for other world class players (OH yes YOUNG ONES) to come & join us.

If all the above fails we can always resort to playing like the old Wimbledon FC, kick everyone off the pitch, squeezing their balls!!!

  • Remy says:

Henderson is a good buy, Gerard will Not Be around forever. So we have a good Young midfield Settling in nicely with Jay spearing. We Need a back up striker for The 2 Young strikers Carroll suarez. We Need a Left And right winger And then i would Be Quite happy. I would get Insua back At Left back for Time being. Go reds! Oh yeah keep mereiles kenny.

  • Jolly says:

Come on! We have only a couple of days to wait until all will be revealed in exactly who we are after and why…Patience!

  • m kop says:

I know Liverpool doesn’t want to advertise their transfer policy but still, except for Adam and Downing there seems to be no attempt made by Liverpool to get some players they need.
United has 4 wingers and they just bought Young and are getting Nasri.
Clichy is joining City so we dont know who Liverpool wants for left back position…

All this waiting seems to be Liverpool’s reluctance to spend for what they need and attempts to get some cheaper signings.

Well Liverpool needs quality and it doesn’t come cheap.

I would be happy if only player Liverpool get in this transfer window is Aguero (providing he would come) and Kuyt is played in full back position, than at least first team would be able to compete.

By the looks of it most will agree with me by January, but by than money will be spent on average players and we will be dreaming CL spot yet again. That is if money is available to be spent…
