Whelan: You have to let them go, in the end

|

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has admitted that James McCarthy’s long term future lies away from the DW Stadium:

“James is a quality young player, and the intention is to be keeping hold of players of that calibre. In the end, of course, you have to let them go, there’s no question about that. It’s how long you can keep them here – and it also depends what the lad himself wants to do. You have to listen to players’ demands and the reasons for that, and you have to be realistic with everybody. But it’s too early to be analysing any of that.”

Whelan did however state that there had been no offers for any Wigan players as of yet:

“At this moment in time, we don’t know if anybody is coming in for any of our players, and whether those players would want to leave if we decided they could go.”

This week it is former LFC WAG Amii Grove!

Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli must do everything they can to sign James McCarthy. This guy is a quality all round central midfielder and at 20, he will only improve. In a couple of years time he will be one of the best midfielders in England and may even prove to be our long term replacement for Gerrard. Liverpool should forget about signing Adam and focus on a deal for McCarthy instead. This player is easily worth 15m.

Is that Football Manager talking or you actually watching Wigan games and making an opinion?

      • Eric says:

Well unfortunately I do not play Football Manager and my opinion on James McCarthy is based purely on watching Wigan games every week. So who do you suggest Liverpool buy, David?

Did he say this on his S*n sponsored TV show?
