Why it is time for us to push on in this transfer window

|

Once the signing of Jordan Henderson was completed just eighteen days after the climax of the 2010-2011 Premier League season, it was clear to see that Liverpool FC were keen to get their summer transfer business done and dusted as quickly as possible.

However, things have gone quiet on the transfer front. A mass influx of players were expected to flood through the doors of Anfield in a short space of time but Kenny Dalglish’s pen is being kept in his top pocket for the time being.

For me, Liverpool need to push on with any potential signings. Often, this is easier said than done. Nevertheless, if Liverpool want to bring in the quality that is needed then these matters cannot be taken lightly.

The club continue to be linked with a plethora of central midfielders. Now, I am not naive enough to think that a lot of these rumours are nothing but paper talk, I just hope that the men in charge, Dalglish and Comolli, are incisive enough to realise that central midfield isn’t a priority. Once the expected transfer of Charlie Adam to Liverpool is complete, central midfield will then be complete.

Good article and have to agree however I think getting a CB/LB should be higher on the agenda (Clichy/Enrique, Dann/Zapata/Lovren)

I would like to see Downing and one of Mata/Lucas Rodriguez/Adam Johnson (& get rid of Konchesky, insua, Degen, Cole, Aqua, Poulsen, Jova, Maxi, Aurelio,El Zhar).

With experienced cover for Carroll/Luis up top if really needed for a time(in Kuyt/Stevie G) I’d go for two of Wickham/Van Wolfswinkle/Roux to fight for a subs spot and let Ngog go.
Also, it makes good comercial sense to look at Ki/Honda. If Mereles goes sign Charlie Adam as a direct replacement.

Young, bags of potential, unlikely to happen, only my 2 cents eitherway….

NO! NOT GOOD ENOUGH, DONT WANT OR NEED HIM. BIG FISH IN A SMALL POND, NOT GOOD ENOUGH AMONGST LARGER FISH! BETTER TO GO FOR HONDA, OR HIS LIKE.

  • Old Timer says:

LETS KEEP IT BASIC. DO NOT WANT ADAM!! WE DO NOT NEED ADAM!! HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR LIVERPOOL.
ADAM IS A SMALL CLUB STAR, BUT A BIG CLUB SQUAD PLAYER, AND LIVERPOOL DONT NEED ANY MORE SQUAD PLAYERS.

FOR EXAMPLE, INSTEAD OF HIM WE COULD HAVE HONDA OR SOMEONE OF SIMILAR CLASS. LET US LIMIT OUR PURCHASES TO A FEW CLASS PLAYERS, AND CONCENTRATE ON POSITIONS WHERE WE HAVE NO ONE, SUCH AS A LEFT BACK LIKE ALY CISSOKHO AND WINGERS LIKE MATA, AFFELAY,ETC.

THERE ARE A LOT OF PLAYERS OUT THERE WHO ARE BETTER THAN THE ONES WE ARE BEING LINKED WITH, WHO MAY HAVE PLAYED IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE BUT ONLY FOR TEAMS IN THE LOWER END, NOT THE TOP HALF DOZEN. WE WANT MORE THAN TO BE A MID TABLE TEAM, SO WHY BUY PLAYERS WHO HAVE ONLY PLAYED FOR MID TABLE SIDES OR LOWER??

I think you’re way over your head when you say “these players are not good enough for LFC”..We been picking up Sh!*e players over the last 4 years such as Riera, Poulsen, Konchesky, Voronin etc..I’m not saying they’re not good enough for LFC, but I’m sure management should know how to pick them! Rafa was a tactical genius and did bring us some good players but also bought a bunch of crap! He caused the departure of Alonso! and did we get Barry (the man he wanted..I ask myself why? up to today!!!)…I hope we fill the team with Prem proven players and may be 1 player out of the prem! I agree with you on some points, but Adam is not a bad player at all for our system, however I wouldn’t even look his way at this point! Kenny MUST bring in a quality LB and remove a CB in either Skrtel or Agger! Johnson MUST go back to his preferred RWB and Kelly must cement himself in the CB position with Carra (who only has about 2-3 tops good years left!)…We need a LB as I stated and Leighton Baines should be priority! If he’s going to cost 15 million, then broker a deal for 13m with Eccelston & Amoo (both players Everton are interested in!) along with Mavinga! Then a LW either Georgino Wijnaldum (14goals), N’Zogbia, Downing, Turan or Mata! Anyone of the 4 would make us a much better team! Then a Striker to come off the bench with Pace and a No Fear attitude! I still scratch my head why Sturridge wasn’t included in the Torres deal, however Bojan doesn’t want to leave Barca so D.J. Campbell would be perfect! (Has an infectious attitude and wouldn’t complain about coming off the bench! has skill! and following him since Brentford!) or even Wickham who wants LFC! Even Toivonen is a good option or what about Papiss Demba Cisse (22 goals in a very competitive Bundesliga) or even Moussa Sow!…Great player to come off the bench-> Park Chu Young (been saying this since last term!)

Would Payet not be a good option for the wing, he looks impressive enough
