Is he heading for Anfield? Or is it just Twitter nonsense?

According to an apparent ‘Twitter exclusive‘. Liverpool have agreed a fee and personal terms with Wigan’s Charles N’Zogbia. This report, however, should be treated with caution.

A lot of speculation has built as a result of an ‘exclusive’ announcement by Sports Management and Entertainment agency Triple S, who sensationally claimed that Liverpool FC have “agreed a fee” and “terms with the player’s representatives” for the transfer of N’Zogbia.

Launching a countdown to an “exclusive” announcement on Monday at 7pm U.K. time on the social networking site Twitter, Triple S went on to state:

“Ladies & Gents, the identity of the mystery player that Liverpool Football Club have agreed personal terms with is Charles N’Zogbia. “A fee has been agreed with Wigan, personal terms have been agreed with the player’s representatives & the player will undergo a medical and sign a contract when he returns from holiday. The deal is not yet ‘official’ but subject to a medical being passed, N’Zogbia will be a Liverpool player.”

Reports derived from ‘sources’ (I use the term loosely) such as Twitter cannot be trusted, unless the source is easily verified, but in this case however, I also feel that there may be a little more to the story – but I certainly do not believe that this ’exclusive’ is actually claiming anything sensational.

What seems like a clever PR stunt may in fact, be a clever PR stunt.

I suggest that this ‘agency’ may be choosing a rather predictable transfer exclusive, with fingers crossed that their prediction comes true. No doubt their site/business is hoping for a spurt of interest in their services as a hungry media search for the latest big news, and as die-hard football fans join up to follow the latest big Twitter Trend. If the rumour is true – then surely ‘Triple S’ are all knowing! Everyone likes to be in the know after all. Quite clever really.

But as the old saying goes – If it looks like duck, and it quacks like a duck – then it’s a f**cking duck.

I suggest that the N’Zogbia ‘Twitter exclusive’ is a calculated guess – which based on well known information which is readily available about his being available this summer.

That the Frenchman will move this summer is not a surprise. As reported in the Mirror last week (14/06/07) Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has openly accepted that N’Zogbia will leave, previously stating that:

“There is quite a lot of interest in Zoggy, He has said to me ‘I’ve enjoyed my time at Wigan, but I want to move on to other things’ and I’ve said we won’t stand in his way. There have been plenty of enquiries, but the season is still a bit away yet and the transfer market is only just beginning to kick in. People are on holiday, but we’ll come together in a fortnight and sort it.”

The article also continued by stating that a fee of £12m had been set for clubs not in the Champions League – and a fee of £9m set for Champions League clubs.

Triple S are a firm set up bt Paul Stretford (former agent of Shrek). From what I’ve discovered there doesn’t seem to be any link between NZogbia’s french agent and this group, but I guess that’s only ever one phone call away, murky world that it is.

My great fear in all this is the peronality and motivation of the player. KK is from the old bootroom school, where there was a high emphasis on a players character. From this side of things, hopefully this should help identify any issues in trhis area, but the last thing we need is another Anelka situation.

Agree with keeping away from an Anelka situation! Stretford and the ‘ROONEY SAGA’is scarey – scullduggery at it’s worst!!!
