Responding to tweets on his twitter account last night, Liverpool owner John W Henry joked they should march on Valencia for Juan Mata:
“Maybe you can march on Valencia. A TweetUp! How many of you are there? We could attack on four sides.”
On another issue, Henry responded to questions over developments on the new stadium:
“Anfield would certainly be our first choice. But realities may dictate otherwise. So many obstacles…”
Henry also replied to a tweet asking whether the Reds would ever have a pre-season match at Fenway Park saying:
“Yes. Should be terrific”

Unfortunately, it appears to just be his sense of humour. Personally, I found it quite funny…but it can be a dangerous game to play if you are the owner and are joking about a player the fans really want.
It is stupid of him making such jokes like that when club is in not getting any big stars, just players from smaller clubs.
New owners have not spent anything in January so they should get really big signing this summer.

They just reinvested the money from Torres and Babel, and added a couple of quid. To be honest as much money as we have spent, theres actually very little that has come from FSG, the club itself has really generated all the funds spent so far, including the Adam and Henderson fees, because thankfully the profits of about 25m or so we make each year are now no longer going on interest and bank fee payments….so really, Henry & Co havent really invested in the transfers side of things so far.
How about the 350 million they spent to get the club, the money they will spend on the stadium and the money they have spent this window. This ownership is all that we can dream of because we will have a solid Club for years to come not like City or Chelsea with a wage and age structure that is insane.
That 350m will become a bargain if they treat this club right. Dont get me wrong, Im absolutely delighted to be out of G&H’s hands, and to be in a window where we can spend money if a novelty for nearly 4 years now. But this club was a dinosaur in the commerical markets for way too long, too many opportunities passed us by because f poor strategic management. If FSG build on the non-footballing income generating work that G&H started they will make their money many times over, and they know that. So until I see major investment the like we need to challenge for titles and Europe again, I’ll be thankful for them, but wont be blinded by the media haze surrounding the hype.
It was a joke, I’d personally be worried, like TSP, if Mr Henry and FSG decided who we bought, we’ve seen Abramovich do that at Chavski with some disasterous results, Mutu, Shevchenko, Torres?. I’m more interested in the Anfield debate, this needs sorting soon.

Jesus there’s some serious people on here. Mr Henry was obviously joking about the way we should get mata. but maybe he would like him here. or maybe he was just replying to fans questions. He’s in a no win situation. don’t answer questions or answer then with a bit of humour. Lets wait and see, we have to trust the owners.

Henry grows on me more everyday. I can see himself and kenny getting on well in the coming years. both don’t take the media or people who use it too seriously. I think its a certainty stan park is the way. after listening to Alan Hanson talking about how shabby anfield is apparent to the nou camp etc, I’m more for a new stadium too. was impressed by their attempts to keep anfield, nobody else suggested this from what I read over the years.

Lets leave the choice of players to dc and kk. They know how we want to set up next season, and the players they want in, so leave it to them, and trust. Its a squad game, not every signing can be a big name….

I can almost guarantee that the majority of you will not have seen Mata play for any more than 10 minutes or a few Youtube clips here and there.
There are many player top players out there, Mata in not the only star in the sky.

Mata is a world class of player, but it’s not so easy to sign players of a high calibre when You can’t offer high wages and Champions League football.

Meanwhile, some fans forget that We have already a host of top talent in our side, and our transfer policy based on youth and overrated talent is extremely wise in my view.
With our experience, our top talent is the side, our youth talent & overrated talents like Charlie Adam We’ll be a force again.
I whould like to see Liverpool snap uo Juan Mata, but it’s not so easy like some fans think: the richest clubs in the world (City, Real Madrid) are all chasing this players Who want high wages & instant success.
Liverpool’s success is based on tradition, long term view, youth talent & strong fan base.
Charlie is a classy player with a fantastic long range pass, and Jordan is an excellent all around midfield: We should be happy and give them confidence a proper chance.
