According to reports in the US, Liverpool have signed Cal Odyssey striker Villyan Bijev. Bijev is believed to have signed five year contract with the Merseyside club. Bijev, an American, also has a Bulgarian passport courtesy of his father, but will only be eligible to play in England next July when he will able to obtain a work permit as Bulgaria has yet to fully complete its European Union induction, having only joined in 2007.

According to MLSSoccer.com, Bijev will be immediately loaned out to Reds affiliate Racing Genk in Belgian’s Jupiler League, where he will initially play in the reserves. Bijev’s agent Steve Kelly told MLSSoccer.com:

“Everybody cuts their teeth in the second team. [Liverpool] would be very surprised if he wasn’t in the first team by the end of the season.”

So who is Villyan Bijev? Bijev is the son of a prominent Bulgarian attorney in the United States, Chris Bijev, who specialises in immigration and nationality issues in the state of California. Villyan had been playing his football for US team Cal Odyssey and has been a prolific scorer for the club in their Development Academy for the past three seasons.

A striker or an attacking midfielder, who likes to roam across the field, the 18 year old is known for having great skill and a good touch on the ball. He has mentioned in the past that he would like to improve his strength and off the ball running but that will come with time.

Red33 thank good I found someone who has some sense. People really put down put down Ngog he isn’t as bad as people make him out to be. You and I know he isn’t going to part of the team next season I hope whatever he goes he proves all the idiots wrong and I think after a decent run of games he will start showing what he’s about people forget he is still young. As for AC biggest waste of money he needs to score a minimum of 25 goals to be worth that sort of money every season

Andy Carrol just needs good service….once he gets that we will see him scoring goals..against man city we saw what he is capable of..At Newcastle he had Nolan and Gutiérrez to provide him with fine crosses and corners…now that we have Downing who can provide accurate crosses we will surely see Andy scoring goals…Andy maybe over-priced…but its not his fault..its the clubs which decide the price…M very sure thaat under Kenny’s guidance Andy will surely turn out to be one of the best in the league….

Why do we always results to long balls and neglect pass and move once carrol is playing?
