Redknapp: A Big Signing for Liverpool in more ways than one

Former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp believes the signing of Sebastian Coates will help Luis Suarez to “feel more at home” on Merseyside:

“Sebastian Coates is a big signing for Liverpool in more ways than one. He’s a tall man for starters, at 6ft 6in and is only 20, but the arrival of a second Uruguayan at Anfield can only make Suarez feel more at home. Players go well in pairs. I can think of Arnold Muhren and Frans Thijssen at Ipswich and Ossie Ardiles and Ricardo Villa at Tottenham. They didn’t too badly, did they? Thijssen was the first foreign Footballer of the Year.”

Redknapp also can’t wait to see Suarez and Steven Gerrard link up:

“I bumped into Steven Gerrard on Saturday as I was leaving Anfield and, while he hasn’t played this season after a miserable run of injuries, he was in very good spirits. Like me, he’d just been watching the Luis Suarez show and Stevie will be excited about the prospect of playing alongside Liverpool’s new star again. I can’t wait to see the two of them together, either. They will be on the same wavelength.”

suares and gerrard will for sure make a good pair, but if liverpool continue to play like they are at this moment, gerrard will have to put in a gr8 amount of effort if he wants hes starting position back

@loumie: True, but given Gerrard’s quality and positive attitude, he will most definitely make it into Liverpool’s starting eleven with little difficulty. Wish I could say the same about Andy ‘donkey’ Carroll who is slow, lazy and technically limited. Carroll thinks that one only needs to be tall to a great footballer. He will very likely win the dubious honour of being the most expensive British FLOP in the Premiership.

    • Miles says:

@nigel honeyman: Nay. Dalglish merely left a message because he was unable to speak with Vargas personally. Vargas did call back an hour later telling Dalglish to stop dreaming.
