The Daily Star is reporting that Liverpool are to follow up their interest in Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy by opening contract talks with the player. City are allowing the player to leave on a free transfer, according to the paper, and have given the Welsh international permission to speak to any interested clubs. The Reds can discuss personal terms with Bellamy but the 32 year old is said to be demanding a two year contract, according to the Star.

This is a stupid signing; a waste of money and one Dalglish will regret.

    • Chigsy says:

why is it a waste of money? he has pace, prem experience and can score goals….would add to the attack!

      • papa says:

I dont want Bellamy. He thinks he is better than he is and is no good for the harmony in a team. Plus he is 32 or so. Nah, can’t see it happening.

i like bellamy as a player he is fastest than caroll and can score goals everywhere he want.

  • Paul says:

Fingers crossed that this is BS!

this would be a negative end to what has been a pretty positive transfer window! i personally believe there are young up-and-coming championship players who would be better quality back-up than ngog. I would have liked shane long for one, but now, the young lad Emnes has looked a great prospect for a couple of years now and has got off to a flyer this term! or here’s a novel idea and don’t shout me down here, but what if we were to look beyond british players? shocking i know! but what about the likes of Honda, class player and bound to be worth a few quid in marketing!

  • papa says:

You might have a point there with Honda. But Kenny has not just bought English. Doni and Enrique are not English. This new defender, if we sign him, is from Uruguay. But I think Honda would be a good signing as he rally want to come to Liverpool.

i was referring to the strikers we are being linked to ie doyle, sturridge, bellamy etc, they are all classed as british players but, with the exception of sturridge i would like Lfc to broaden the horizons when it comes to potential strikers!

  • percy says:

i think he can bring life to that right hand side. Lets go for him!!

    • loumie says:

bellamy was a liverpool player before, and i think hes experience and paste will do us good

  • Billy says:

At least the rumour is not from a reliable source, some egit has thought LFC need a striker whos got one cheep.

Put 2 and 2 together and got 65

  • Sam says:

Bellamy will be a great sinning for us.he is faster and better than carrol.surely he will later not be a back up striker.

  • mrbing says:

in his last full season at city he was player of the year ahead of robinho, he was twice the player he was at liverpool, many things change in one season though

  • SAM CHARLES says:

FORLAN – on a free, his club atletico are willing to let him leave!!! think he would be great on a 2 year deal, to one see us through this year and into the next year when we might have champions league footie back, for me he and suarez link up well and they would help the young coates settle also.

Make no mistake the forlan that was at the scum is a far far better player then that.

Sign Forlan, he would also help the young players at the club learn things, its a win win deal, he would also flog number of shirts too…..

    FORLAN SUAREZ KUYT
    DOWNING LUCUS GERRARD
    ENRIQUE COATES CARRAGHER KELLY
    REINA

  • Alonso207 says:

Bellamy indeed but i believe he will add more potency to the already firing attack
