Liverpool centre back Danny Wilson has had a difficult time since arriving from Glasgow Rangers last summer. He has so far only made 8 starts and 1 substitute appearance for the Reds after making 25 appearances for Rangers in the 2009/10 season. His start to life at Anfield has been frustrating to say the least, but he may now have the opportunity to prove himself with Daniel Agger sidelined for a month and Martin Skrtel suspended for the match tonight against Brighton.

Sebastian Coates maybe given the nod to play at the Amex stadium tonight, but if the Uruguayan does take some time to adapt to English football, Wilson could have his opportunities to make an impact in the Carling Cup, and perhaps impress enough to be played in the FA Cup or the Premier League too.

So far during his Liverpool career, Wilson has had to make do playing out of position at left back on a number of occasions, and considering he has only had 8 starts in total for the Reds, it would be unfair to judge the player since he has little opportunity to play in his best position at centre back.

He also looks very good in the air, has good physical strength and can read the game very well.

Although those in Scotland who have hailed the player as the next Alan Hansen are a bit premature, the fact he was given the Scottish FWA Young Player of the Year award, the Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year during his first season playing in the first team for Rangers, suggests he has raw talent.
