Where Do We Go From Here?

AS I sat and watched Newcastle United dominating large swathes of possession toward the end of our defeat at the Sport Direct Arena, I started to daydream a little, trying to get things straight in my head about what we need to do next as a club in order to improve on what has been a pretty shambolic season.

Sadly, I was very quickly dragged out of my happy little dream by the sound of Newcastle’s fans singing gleefully ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ at Kenny Dalglish as the Liverpool manager stood, brow furrowed, watching his side being outplayed and still not having made any changes. But perhaps the saddest indictment of the performance was that Newcastle (a club who were in the Championship a couple of years ago) were able to substitute their best player with over 15 minutes remaining, such was their confidence that the result was in the bag.

Having just watched Liverpool expertly carved open by Papisse Cisse twice over the course of 75 minutes, seeing a complete lack of desire and direction from the players to rectify the situation; seeing little to no leadership from the bench, where the manager stood looking a mixture of angry, perplexed and befuddled and then seeing Pepe Reina sent off for a pathetic dive by a conniving, embarrassing excuse for a fellow professional, I felt like I was having déjà vu. Previously good players were looking out of their depth, one goal against the run of play was killing our confidence and ill-judged signings were contributing little to nothing and everything seemed to be going against us. Was this January 2011, all over again?

The Carling Cup is looking like it was won a century ago and gives me little comfort during results like this. Depending on how Sundays’ remaining Premier League fixture goes we could end the weekend in 9th and in the coming weeks we could actually slip in to the bottom half of the table. At present, I can’t see how things could get worse and as the weeks roll by more and more is now riding on that FA Cup semi-final in a couple of weeks. If we beat Everton and reach the final then that game is going to take on epic proportions for the club and will likely become a day of nervousness and trepidation when it should be one of excitement and delight, such will be the fallout depending on the result.

Say what you like but this has been far from a season of progression or transition. Those words are becoming more and more embarrassing the more fans use them in relation to our performance in the league this season. There are a number of players that need to take a long, hard look at themselves and ask if they deserve to be at the club and, likewise, Kenny needs to take a step back and ask himself whether him staying on as manager will serve the best interests of the club. Because while it’s nice to hear senior players saying they’re happy in training and there’s a great atmosphere about the club that doesn’t seem to have made any difference on the pitch.

So with our 11th league defeat of the season we have now equalled the amount of games that we’ve won and in the coming league games (7 remaining) we could even bypass that so we’ve come to the point where everybody has to stop and ask themselves – what is the best thing for the club, going forward and where do we go from here, because at the moment it seems like nobody at or inside the club seems to have the slightest idea.

I will also provide you a few good ones as well:

We should all have to start wondering:
    1. Are John W. Henry, Thomas Werner, Ian Ayre, and Damiel Comolli possessed with the same feelings of humiliation and embarrassment as most of LFC’s fans are by watching one of the most historic teams to be humiliated by all of its opponents in 2012?
    2. Do they really have the pure intentions, as they are trumpeting, to turn around the fortunes of this team?
    3. When will they finally realize that as long as they do not act decisively and immediately to appoint a world class manager and sack Kenny Dalglish this team will always be on the red alert zone?
    4. Will John W. Henry and Thomas Werner start eventually protecting their investment and the sponsors who are heavily investing in LFC’s world-recognized brand name?
    5. Will John W. Henry and Thomas Werner eventually and finally be consulted honestly by the football experts and informed that what it is happening to LFC in 2012 is not a normal and healthy condition/development?
    6. Will Ian Ayre as the Managing Director and Damiel Comolli as the football director finally start acting as pure professionals and step aside any emotions of favoritism towards Kenny Dalglish and finally advise/consult John W. Henry and Thomas Werner to make the right decision(s)?
    7. Will Kenny Dalglish finally start acting as a pure Liverpoollian and step down as LFC’s manager as he can help this team find its recovery path?

PETITION REFERS TO: JOHN W. HENRY, THOMAS WERNER, DAMIEL COMOLLI, IAN AYRE

You made a very good point. We are beginning to wonder whether Americans are any good at all for a club such as LFC.

Are JH and TW simply too far away in the USA to feel our utter disgust and humiliation at the way KD and DC handling of our beloved club?

After handling 113 mill of the club cash to this 2 bungling blokes are they too gutless to protect the club’s investment and future?

Do these Americans care at all?

To be frank the these Americans made Russians like Roman looks like Mother Theresa, at least Roman is there for CFC and acts dicisivelt when needed. Look at them now.

I would forget about KD for a while as i had given up hope that he would do the right thing for LFC and step aside voluntarily. Just like his persistence on playing his flops, his ego prevents him from doing what is right for LFC.

Many including myself are seriously questioning the intensions of our owners as besides making empty noise about the new stadium, they simply lack the courage to do what is right and needed.

What progress is KD talking about? We are actually worse off than RH time and we have a run of games that is so bad we need to go back to the 50’s for any comparison.

A new manager would need time to know the club and sign players, why wait until June or July? To win the FA Cup? To let KD cement our new found status as a mid table and club team?

The way we drove out the previous American cowboys, we might need to do that again, these time against an egoistical former King and a culd not care less again pair of Americans. Oh don’t forget that Frenchman.

as long as kenny is in d manager of lfc we will keep sinking he seems to be out of ideals at times, and he should stop deceiving us with progress on and off d pish course as we can all see we ar,nt going anywhere under him. Liverpool 4 life

  • kk says:

It doesn’t matter if Perch went down or not, and it doesn’t matter if Reina connected or not .. the Ref’s decision is based ENTIRELY on INTENT.. do you think he should only have been sent off if he’d connected? No .. Reina was a cert red and LFC ain’t got a hope of appealing and getting it changed. The Perch drop is irrelevant; don’t blame OUR mistakes on others – outplayed by a younger, faster, hungrier team – not good enough!

  • BillytheFish says:

Where do we go from here?

We as a Geordie I have just had a wedge at 11/4 for Liverpool to win the FA cup!!

Thats where you go from here….

  • tim says:

i find it incredible that lpool fans are still talking about Perch, you have Suarez in your side, do you not realise how pathetic this makes you look??? Suarez is probably the most disgusting player to ever play in the premiership, and your worried about Perch going down when their was definite contact. Whats the alternative?? Perch stays on his feet and Reina gets away with a blatant head butt, what in gods name was he thinking?? You lot seriously need to start looking closer to home if you want someone to blame. Oh and while your at it, get yourself a decent scout.

  • TOON TOON says:

where do you ??? DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN

  • Phil says:

Reina wasn’t even tripped!Watch the fkin videos, jesus. No reason for him to turn round like he’d been stamped on,then headbutt the opposing player.
Reina got what he deserved. He dived then headbutted….good game.
Perch was a clown but that’s modern football for ya.Don’t ya watch any?
You were crap, you’re manager is clueless (we know all about him) you’ve pi$$ed millions up the wall on rubbish and because of Suarez, everyone thinks you’re a bunch of racists.
Look closer to home for the blame plx.

  • Bekim says:

WITH KD NOWHERE. THAT’S WHERE WE R GOING FROM HERE. NOWHERE.

  • Porciestreet says:

And of course, non of your lot would ever ever conceive of going down to gain an advantage.
Don’t make me laugh. You’v been getting away with it for years, just hurts a bit more when you get some thrown back at ya. If I were you mate , I would move out of your greenhouse cos it will get very cold when the stone throwing starts.
Good job you’v got points on the board cos it could have been a very bumpy ride. Welcome to the land of the also-rans. Always a Magpie. HWTL.

  • Eric says:

Liverpool have already qualified for next season’s Europa League and will not get 4th place so Kenny Dalglish might as well focus on the FA Cup. Starting on Saturday against Villa, Kenny should drop Carragher, Enrique and Carroll and play the South Americans who are more worthy of a place in the team; Coates, Aurelio and Maxi. Carragher has shown this season again and again that he is way past it and needs to be dropped immediately. Enrique has been poor lately, not sure if it’s because he’s exhausted from the number of games he’s played this season or what but it’s clear that he hasn’t been playing as well as he did earlier in the season. Carroll should be benched and Maxi should start every game from now on. And if Doni performs well, he should be given the nod ahead of Reina, who doesn’t seem bothered anymore.

This season has clearly been a complete disaster and who knows we might even finish in the bottom half of the table. The focus from now on should be on the FA Cup and dropping the likes of Carragher, Enrique, Henderson, Adam, Downing and Carroll and playing Shelvey, Sterling and the South Americans. At the end of the season, John W Henry and Tom Werner need to sack Comolli and Kenny and bring Rafa back.

  • Goal Mouth says:

    dogleash killed Newcastle’s great 90’s team & he’ll kill liverpool’s team now.
He has not a danny! (la rue)
He has no real support from his superiors, hence the 2 year contract & he knows it.

You look a shambolic team in decline,
    sad really!

  • Goal Mouth says:

    maybe because he’s championship worthy?

  • bornkop says:

with kenny stil in the driving seat, we might finish in the bottom half of the table because his tactics are so conservative and cant win agame even against championship club.

  • Neil Patterson says:

Doom doom doom! The season’s not over yet, so why don’t we jusdge it when it is. Suarez the most disgraceful player in the league? Having a laugh I think (see Mario Balotelli). Reina should’ve gone but it’s not the first time he’s done summat stupid in high profile games (see Chelsea 2007).

Perch should also have gone for a second yellow, pulling back Suarez in the dying minutes, no question about it. On the theatrics; the only way it will ever stop is if players are banned for it. The FA retrospectively bans players for tackles, they should do the same for play acters.

If was a bad day yesterday, no gettin away from it, and things must improve. But they will, and if they don’t then Kenny will take himself upstairs in the Summer. He should/will never be sacked, Liverpool football club owe him too much.

The new man? Well I’d say that Rafa’s management style and Knowledge of club/affection amongst the fans, would make him the firm favourite

    • Shibashis says:

I agree, Kenny should not be sacked. He will step aside on his own, and I am certain of that.

Will welcome Rafa back, there is another question in my mind, will the owner’s back Rafa with money after the major spending last summer?
I am not ‘in’ within the club and so honestly have not much idea about the rumors, but how much say the manager has in signings given the new owner’s affinity toward Mr. Comolli? Will Rafa be given a free hand as he wanted during his last year?
Somehow I foresee a not so easy time ahead for our club, I hope I am wrong.

  • Alex says:

We need Frank Regard ,Dutch coach.

We all respect Kenny ,but we cant keep respecting him if result like that ,so he should respect him self and leave.
After what he did list season ,i was so happy with him,but became sad after he signed 3year contract, cause i saw him as man who did a great shirt job ,and it should have ended last May.
one he sold Merrrlies and gave Aqua for nothing i knew 100% hes not good ,and worse than that 39m on Hendersson and Downing , do i need to say more!! yes there is Carrol 35m

  • Alex says:

If Kennnnny was smart he would buy Ashly Young not S .Downing ,,,

Thats simple example why Sir Alex is Sir and Kenny is no one.
and list is long for wasting the poor American money on rubbish players
    Rafa is 100 times better

    • Eric says:

Exactly. If Kenny is the right man for Liverpool then he would not have bought rubbish British players like Adam, Henderson, Downing and Carroll. Instead, he would have bought Cabaye for 4.5m and quality strikers like Ba and Cisse. Sad thing is the owners still haven’t realized that Kenny’s wasted all their money on a load of rubbish and is making Liverpool look like a laughing stock.

  • Ben says:

Go to your king Kenny home, fools, get that useless manager called Kenny out of our club, sack him now not latter

  • tony says:

RAFA BACK IS THE ONLY SOLUTION
