IN breaking news the BBC are reporting that Brendan Rodgers is set to be confirmed as the new Liverpool FC manager within the next 48 hours.

Swansea City and Liverpool are understood to be discussing a compensation package for the 39-year old, with the Welsh club set to receive a payment of between £4 million and £5 million to release Rodgers from a recently signed contract.

The odds had dramatically fell on Rodgers being announced as the new Liverpool manager ever since previous favourite, Roberto Martinez, had returned from holiday having held further talks with FSG.

Clarification surrounding the yet to be confirmed Sporting Director role is said to have been the major sticking point for future working conditions, leaving Rodgers in pole-position to join the Reds, who after initially distancing himself from the role, as reported on L4L on Monday, agreed to meet with FSG.

It now seems Rodgers’ last game as Swansea City manager will be the 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Premier League’s final round of fixtures at the Liberty Stadium.

I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.

  • swans4ever says:

this swansea team as been playing this style of football 4 six seasons we get managers to fit the system,so no great shakes rogers is going,5 million great compo

  • swans4ever says:

martinez is better bet,hes the one who give us this style of football

  • David Tyrer says:

I don’t agree with giving him the job, if he is appointed, but what can you do except get behind him, if he does? I don’t think he’s right for the job but good luck to him if he does get it.

  • Bahllen says:

What if liverpool appoint top name managers but still cant deliver the results? We have seen this happened all the times. What if a unknown manager came and produced the wanted results as had happened now? Lets get behind the owner and support our beloved club to raise again.

  • Steve says:

I wonder what fsg is doing sacking a man of kkd capacity only to run round grass, looking for less managers.hope they know what they are doing.

  • Si says:

If he gets the job he gets my backing. Might not be my first choice but it wont help the team build confidence if the kop spends its time showing their disapproval from the go. What’s odd though is the BBC report that B.R will get this job but with no DOF. Now if they wanted Martinez an are willing to give up the DOF roll why hasn’t he taken it.

  • Jake says:

I dont think meeting FSG means he will definatly get the job, just ask Martinez. I’m still hoping for Klopp after hearing the Yank on TalkSport last week claiming he will be unveiled on Friday 1st June.

  • MrCairo says:

I was gutted when he was ruled out weeks ago so I truly hope this is true. Swansea played pretty football with average players so hopefully with a better class of player he can produce attractive, effective football.

    pls pls pls be true

    Brendan Rodgers managerial career:

    Championship Dec 2008-June 2009: Watford 6 months – successful
    Championship June 2009-Dec 2009: Reading 6 months – sacked
    Championship July 2010-June 2011: Swansea – promoted
    Premier League June 2011-June 2012: Swansea – successful 11th

No disrespect at all to Brendan Rodgers, but this surely has to be the worst cv ever of a managerial appointment at LFC. I really hope these guys know what they’re doing.

  • collin says:

but guys lets be fair for once. Arsene Wenger joined Arsenal from Japan with a poor resume but be ends up one of the best managers in english football.

  • King Kong says:

I’m happy with the appointment Rodgers.

  • swans4ever says:

  • felix says:

hmmmmm he’s not bad but please brendan lfc needs dyer and sinclair.
