ARE we waking up to the news that every single Liverpool fan has been waiting for, the reason why FSG have remained silent until now about the Kings replacement and the headlines that could rock the Premier League to its core?

Well if Señor Guardiola is to be taken to his word then maybe, just maybe, Anfield could be about to welcome Pep to Liverpool Football club as their new Manager.

The news will thrill every Kopite and leave us coiled in anticipation of the next week’s events.

In an interview taken before the upcoming Spanish cup final against Europa League finalists and Manchester United conquerors Athletic Bilbao the mercurial Spaniard admits he could be ‘seduced’ into scrapping his 12 month sabbatical by accepting a role elsewhere.

When pressed on his future Guardiola said:

“I will receive all calls with pleasure, but for the next month I have to recharge my batteries and my mind. I will rest and wait. I will be ready, if one club wants me, if they seduce me, I will train again”.

His comments will no doubt have messrs Henry and Abramovich in a no holds barred battle to secure the much acclaimed Barcelona idol. With Roberto Di Matteo delivering the FA cup and UEFA Champions League for Chelsea already this month perhaps Pep would see Liverpool as a more interesting proposition and would relish the challenge of restoring one of the world’s greatest football clubs to its rightful place at the pinnacle of domestic and European football.

I think I speak for every Liverpool fan worldwide when I say I certainly hope so. YNWA!

  • Gav says:

Oh God please make this happen. It would make the last 22 years of hurt worthwhile. Make this happen Mssrs Henry and Werner.

  • rouman says:

yes a great replacement, but if not RAFA not martinez…

  • sib says:

Pep is a clear no 1, Rafa no 2, the rest dont come close!

  • Mike says:

you are deluded if you think he would touch us, l`m sure the yanks would love to `seduce’ him to come to Anfield, but we are no longer a big tem – get real guys, we`ll end up with Martinez, good young manager, but he will ultimately fail under the pressure!!

    • Al says:

that is the truth of it – we are no longer a big fish in England even. Times have changed and we are a medicore mid table team at best. It would take at least 5 years to realistically astart challenging just for the top 4.

We have shoking players on 5 year deals, until they go we have no chance. y which time of course, every otherteam in the league will have progressed also

  • The ideal replacement. I think Pep will relish the chance to build a squad and bring us back to the top. YNWA

yes yes yes yes please let this nightmare orf managers be over PEP manager and rafa Director of football please yanks

  • While I’d love this to happen, is it just me that thinks it is very possible Pep might not be as great elsewhere?

He inherited a great Barca squad, Messi, Xavi and Ineista already there. They had already a great set up in place with their famed youth system.

Frank Rijkaard already had them winning major titles. While Pep’s team play great football and have an almighty possession stat for each game etc, the lower la Liga teams are not anywhere as strong as our EPL teams.

Also, the EPL is twice as fast as La Liga and then add that Barca have never really destroyed an English team in Europe… Other than that great ManUre final last year. Chelsea beat them, we’ve beaten them, Arsenal came close.

I just wonder, unless Pep inherits another top squad, used to winning major titles and have money to buy anyone they want (Chelski) will he stumble? He reminds me of King Kenny when he became player manager, had a squad and philosophy already in place… carried on the style and winning. Apart from Blackburn, where he could buy anyone he wanted, how well did he do at Celtic or Newcastle.

    Just my opinion.

      I agree with you totally!!

      • Lang says:

We are somtimes obsessed with greater managers, but we have to look at what type of club he inherits. The only proven manager is Mourinho. Where ever he serves he gets his job excellently irrespective of what type of teams he inherits. Chelsea, inter and now madrid are good examples. Martinez is an aspiring young manager, but I’m still doubtful. Understanding the real scenario at LFC is very important. The owner may want big money, but the fans can’t wait any longer for LFC to be back at the champion league and pose commanding competition in EPL. I still feel that Benitez is the right candidate despite leaving the club 7th place. Some say it would be a repeat of Kenny’s failure. To me they are too totally different managers in terms tactic and team selection. What they have in common great love and passion for lfc. This is the strong point. Anyway, I hope a new manager woudl bring immediate success to liverpool.

    • saidur rahman says:

i agree with u buddy..any descent manager would do great with a team like barca..any team would do great with a player like messi..but even messi would struggle in EPL where the games are played with much more pace.

    • pepegalego says:

No, he did not inherit a team, he made it. He was their coach when they were at La Masia. He brought all the Messis, Xavis and Inhiestas to the first team from where they made history.
While I would love to see Guardiola´s vision in Liverpool, it will be, how to put it, unlikely. However, I can’t see Guardiola at Chelsea or City either, because it wil be a case of “been there, done that”.
Where is the challenge for someone who has won everything and has all the money he needs?
Liverpool is certainly a challenge, but I see him in Italy, most likely.

  • David says:

If he says yes stop the interviews now. Good luck.

  • FOOTBALL ABILITIES says:

Pep cant make world beaters with an English squad that cant control a footbal – seriously cant – absolutely useless – we are miles behind technically – Spain were taking the mickey out of us – we could not get the ball from them for 90 minutes – CLOUD CUCKOO LAND LOAD OF RUBBISH

    • Peejay says:

Which would make his appointment all the better and just what our team needs. Would need some better players than the likes of Henderson and Downing though

  • Mike says:

Pep will l`m sure, only look to a club where he can control the incomings and outgoings of players without cash restraints. We have owners who look at our club as a financial business, not a passion.
The only way we would ever be able to compete with the top clubs in England and Europe would be if we had been sold to the Arabs or Russians, the difference is they are in the game to win, the yanks simply want to use us to make money, believe me!!!

    • You heard says:

I agree with some of your points but isnt this fair play rule coming into effect in 2013 ? We are good with our books , i wonder where Chelsea are? Pep has to take into effect that the blues are an aging team. Liverpool (although rough around the edges) has a great mix of older & younger players. The youth players will want to try harder if Pep is here.

What FSG must realize is that Pep wants total control so that comes with spending cash. Not like man city but a nice purse. I believe if we get Pep – they will do just that. FSG have no problem splashing cash for the red soxs, Liverpool wont be any different.

I would love Pep at Anfield and if it doesnt work out then at least we tried with him. Its a double edge sword. If we dont go after him then some will say “I cant believe we didnt try ” and if he comes and doesnt produce then they will say “why did we go after him”?

I for one want him and will take the risk. Better to try.

      YNWA

    • pepegalego says:

… because the Russians or Arabs aren’t interested in the money?
Man City or Chelsea are under the sword of Damocles. If the Ruskie has had enough and leaves the club, the financial cost will destroy it in the same way Portsmouth or nearly Liverpool were. Man City are just administration waiting to happen.

  • what a fuzz says:

FSG are alienating the whole country – they better get PEP or else it will be a P R Disaster

  • what a fuzz says:

The way we behave and conduct ourselves we will be lucky to get pepsi cola – NO CLASS

  • Shane says:

really people? pep the guy who couldn’t handle the pressure of winning at barcelona is the guy we want? he wouldn’t last 5 minutes at liverpool and the english media talk about pressure there is no bigger pressure than at our club for the next manager this would be a stupid choice although he is a great manager

  • jeff says:

guys lets be serious pep is not the answer to liverpool, completely different styles of fooball, our problems can be solved by rafa the man knows the club and players and it wont take long to settle where as a new man wud need a season to get going.

  • hadi lfc fan says:

pep or rafa im happy with

  • James says:

Alot of people saying we don’t have a great squad? Let’s bare in mind, that the elder players are established internationals and some star for there country. The thing some people seem to forget us that it’s not always up to the player to reach their potential, it’s also up to the coaching team behind them, and that we have. If pep joined us, which I’m sure is actually more likely than u think, then he will b able to bring the best out of our youngsters (Hendo, Coates, etc)…but I no he will even improve our mid players…look at Sergio Busquets, pedro for example, they werent that good a couple of seasons ago, but with peps arm around them they are bloody good players now!…can’t say the same thing if they were perhaps at a different club. So please stop criticing the younger players, saying they have no potential etc etc, if u can’t b Patient go n support m.city. We have a great squad, admittedly it needs improving in certain areas… But seriously I wouldn’t b surprised if pep does end up coming.

  • Owoeye Victor Oluseyi says:

Pep is a clear no 1, Rafa no 2, the rest dont come close. We need coach with high influence.

  • Jack says:

Shut up the most of you and support the new manager whoever he will be. That’s if you’re true LFC supporter.
