Carroll Loan “Ridiculous”

LIVERPOOL FC manager Brendan Rodgers has labelled claims that the club would consider sending Andy Carroll out on loan as “ridiculous.”

The 6ft 4” striker signed for Liverpool in January 2011 under former boss Kenny Dalglish for £35million, however, Carroll has enjoyed a mixed time in Liverpool Red, prompting rumours that the club could be ready to cut their losses on the former Newcastle man.

Newcastle have themselves been heavily linked with a move to lure Carroll back to his boyhood club, however, the Magpies had a loan deal quickly re-buffed by the Anfield club over last weekend.

Whilst Rodgers hasn’t ruled out selling Carroll during the summer transfer window, he has warned that the striker will not be allowed to leave on the cheap and has labelled talk of a season long loan as “ridiculous”.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Rodgers said:

“For us it’s simple, the club have invested £35million in Andy and he’s a player who is still part of this group.

“The only way we would even think about him going out is the same with any other player. If there was an offer to take him on a permanent deal then as a football club we would need to look at that.

“That’s no different to any player but the thought of him going out on loan for one year is just ridiculous really.

“Unfortunately it’s that part of the season when there’s a game going on in football with agents and other people.”

Should no realistic offer come in for Carroll over the course of the next few days, the front-man will join up with the rest of the squad in the USA on Monday, along with the other England internationals returning after an extended break.

“I’ve spoken to Andy and I was straight with him like I’ve been with them all,” Rodgers added.

“The reality is he will join us next week and he’s a talented player. I’m looking forward to him coming back and then we will see what happens. We will review from there whatever comes in for him or any other players.”

It was Rodgers who mentioned the idea of AC going out on loan ( check the early blog sites) ,so for him to describe a loan offer as “ridiculous” is his own problem. I suspect it has been pointed outto him, from on high , that confirming a player is not wanted is a bad negotiating position from which to try to sell that player , as well as being pretty antagonistic to the player himself , with whom you still have to work until/unless he is sold. Lets wait to see how many other goolies he drops before he has to leave our club.

There’s a lot of kidology going on here. Cashly knows full well that he wont get Andy back on the cheap so is sowing the seeds of doubt in both Liverpool FC and Andy’s own head. Andy knows now that we want him back and it’s only a matter of time B4 something turns round.

THIS IS TO GFH (MUPPET). IF YOU CARED ENOUGH TO LISTEN TO BR INTERVIEW YOU WOULD KNOW THAT IT WAS TWO DIFFERENT QUESTIONS. Q1 DO YOU THINK AC CAN PLAY IN YOU SYSTEM? ANSWER, I HAVE SPOKEN WITH ANDY ON THE PHONE, I KNOW HE HAS A LOT OF GOOD QUALITY’S AND I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH HIM AFTER HIS BREAK. Q2. IS THERE ANY PLAYERS GONING TO BE SOLD OR LOANED OUT. ANSWER. IM NOT GONNA SIT HERE AND TELL YOU THAT WE WONT LOAN ANYONE OUT BECAUSE WE MIGHT I DONT KNOW. (MORE THAN LIKELY HE WAS TALKING ABOUT THE KIDS. SUSO,STERLING.) BECAUSE ITS THE MEDIA THE RAN THE BIGGEST HEADLINE THEY COULD CREATE OUT OF IT. ANDY IS NOT UP FOR LOAN BUT WILL BE FOR SALE AT THE RIGHT PRICE. BUT THEN IF SOMEONE OFFERED 250MILLION FOR MESSI BARCA WOULD BIT THERE HAND OFF FOR IT….

Reality check. Andy Carrol is not worth more than 15m quid, let alone 35m.

Dalglish or whoever was signing the cheques droped a huge one when they sanctioned that. Agree 100% with GFH below, a little too much honesty from your new gaffer.

    Give him (carroll) a chance
