THE Moroccan winger, who turned down the chance to represent Holland (qualifying under dual-nationality), will become Brendan Rodgers’ third signing of the summer, subject to completing a successful medical.

Liverpool swooped to land the player who looked Ajax-bound, after being informed of Cristian Tello’s preference to stay in La Liga at this stage of his young career. A fee in the region of £2.5 million will be paid to Assaidi’s now former club, Heerenveen, with the player himself set to triple his £7,000 per week wage at Anfield.

The 24-year old, who was also wanted by Fulham, Spartak Moscow and Galatasaray, was in the final year of his contract and will sign a 4-year deal with the Reds.

Assaidi began his career in the youth academy at AZ Alkmaar before joining FC Omniworld and then moving on to De Graafschap in 2008. After a year, he signed for Heerenveen where he made 68 appearances, scoring 20 goals in the process.

Mainly operating as a winger, Assaidi has also played central on occasion, however with pace and trickery standing out as his main attributes, Assaidi is utilized best out wide. His dazzling array of tricks and assists have already been the subject of various YouTube highlight reels (see below) and Liverpool fans will be hoping his Anfield career turns out better than the last Moroccan international to don the famous a red shirt; Nabil El Zhar.

Assaidi has represented the North African’s on 22 occasions and made his international debut coming on as a substitute, replacing the Premier League’s very own Adel Taarabt in a 4-0 win over Niger.

Meanwhile, after securing what looks like a ‘Tello’ alternative news now turns to the Reds chase in capturing Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin. Latest reports from Marca indicate that whilst Liverpool wasn’t Sahin’s first choice originally (he was keen for Champions League football, and to join up with Arsene Wenger who attempted to sign the player while he was lighting up the Bundesliga with Dortmund), he looks set to join up with Brendan Rodgers on the advice of our old pal, Jose Mourinho.

According to Marca, Mourinho, who has no love for Arsene Wenger, is said to have been in constant contact with his close friend, Brendan Rodgers, and the pair have been discussing the terms of the loan deal over the last week.

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.

If I was to make a prediction I’d say sahib is not coming to Liverpool . Mainly because you hear so much speculation that doesn’t even happen. I just have a feeling this one won’t maybe because it’s too obvious with Alonso and mourinio supposedly influencing sahin to join Liverpool . I also won’t be surprised if agger still joins man city . Let’s hope not unless we get big money for him and a really good replacement

I have a question mark hanging over this Sahin tom-foolery. He has said that he does not want to play for Liverpool and prefers Arsenal. The deal is for 1 year season loan. Why the Hell are we trying to get a man who clearly does not want to play for us ? I would prefer this to be smoke-screen to getting someone else in!

Looks good on you tube, but then again anyone can look good on you tube!!!
I really hope he has the skills to play in the epl if he does then fantastic – if not its only 2.4 mil
Might need to put some beef on and up his fitness evels tho.
As for Sahin you never know, is there any proof he actually stated he does not want to play for LFC?????????
Welcome Oussama to the Republic of Liverpool and may you ever walk alone.

Sahin wants to join Arsenal and has refused to join Liverpool becasue they want a clause to buy him after 12 months and he does not want to sign any permanent deal with them. Song’s departure will mean Sahin joining Arsenal within a week.
