THE Moroccan winger, who turned down the chance to represent Holland (qualifying under dual-nationality), will become Brendan Rodgers’ third signing of the summer, subject to completing a successful medical.

Liverpool swooped to land the player who looked Ajax-bound, after being informed of Cristian Tello’s preference to stay in La Liga at this stage of his young career. A fee in the region of £2.5 million will be paid to Assaidi’s now former club, Heerenveen, with the player himself set to triple his £7,000 per week wage at Anfield.

The 24-year old, who was also wanted by Fulham, Spartak Moscow and Galatasaray, was in the final year of his contract and will sign a 4-year deal with the Reds.

Assaidi began his career in the youth academy at AZ Alkmaar before joining FC Omniworld and then moving on to De Graafschap in 2008. After a year, he signed for Heerenveen where he made 68 appearances, scoring 20 goals in the process.

Mainly operating as a winger, Assaidi has also played central on occasion, however with pace and trickery standing out as his main attributes, Assaidi is utilized best out wide. His dazzling array of tricks and assists have already been the subject of various YouTube highlight reels (see below) and Liverpool fans will be hoping his Anfield career turns out better than the last Moroccan international to don the famous a red shirt; Nabil El Zhar.

Assaidi has represented the North African’s on 22 occasions and made his international debut coming on as a substitute, replacing the Premier League’s very own Adel Taarabt in a 4-0 win over Niger.

Meanwhile, after securing what looks like a ‘Tello’ alternative news now turns to the Reds chase in capturing Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin. Latest reports from Marca indicate that whilst Liverpool wasn’t Sahin’s first choice originally (he was keen for Champions League football, and to join up with Arsene Wenger who attempted to sign the player while he was lighting up the Bundesliga with Dortmund), he looks set to join up with Brendan Rodgers on the advice of our old pal, Jose Mourinho.

According to Marca, Mourinho, who has no love for Arsene Wenger, is said to have been in constant contact with his close friend, Brendan Rodgers, and the pair have been discussing the terms of the loan deal over the last week.

  • professor zem says:

He seems to have the skill and trickery that Suarez has. Let’s hope he turns out to be the kind of sub 3million pound bargain that Sami Hyypia was.

  • ELrapha says:

Now i think we are ready to go but still think the likes of J.Cole should be showed the way out,he’s old, tired legged n expensive in comparism to value.

  • YOUNGR3D!!! says:

One of the best kept transfer secrets I have EVER seen. I think his skills and trickery matches the likes of eden hazard and young who have been bought for a large sums of money. Welcome to anfield assaidi_11.
Just waiting for nuri hopefully. YNWA!!!

Hope he ?? a good signing, gastos ramirez who have been better one

  • Red$4eva says:

Did Tello snub LFC? Is Sahin deal being thrashed out? Fairly certain Gaston Ramirez is not in our budget regretfully. BR is almost ready to set up stall to kick of new season. Still short of a full squad by a couple of signings. Adam parts company, we get Dempsey then we’ve got a bit of serious clout.

    sahin,tello welcome 2 liverpool aswel

  • King Kong says:

2.4m buys you a waterboy these days. So to get some exciting winger on a 21k/week wage with some tricks and magic in his locker, this looks like a real deal. If it doesn’t work well, it’s only 2.4m and not 20m or 35m mistake.

Ppl say Dutch league is crap and defense is s***. Suarez played there and created havoc. He came here and made ppl like Terry look like a schoolboy. So please don’t undermine other leagues and think BPL is the best league. It’s not. It’s just the most expensive league, period.

    • Bubbles says:

Hey King Kong, good point. For £35m, we could have brought in at least 3 brilliant players from outside the EPL (Carzola and Ramirez to name a few). The EPL is not exactly the best, its the foreign players that are the best, and they are here fro the money. U take the foreign players out of the equation then you have Carroll, Henderson, Adams, Carrick, Barry and co left. Would i watch it with this dross only? NO! People, just look who the star players are in the EPL, last year, the year before, and before that… i rest my case. There are a lot of leagues that are better than the EPL (EPL is just a pot of gold, when the gold dries up, the foreigners will go).

Yeah, i agree pretty much, after 20millions for Downing, everything at this numbers is good -__- just WHY PLAYERS LIKE DOWNING, ADAM ARE STILL HERE? Downing is also 29 years old, if we don’t sell him now for 8/10 millions we’ll never sell him…

  • igwe chinedu says:

  • Abbo says:

    Lets hope he is good

  • Samuel says:

Point of correction, ”In Rodgers I do NOT trust”, but ”in JESUS CHRIST I trust”. Liverpool would win the all the trophies this season in Jesus name. YNWA. ramirez, dempsey and sahin plus laewandowski

    • Bubbles says:

Ramirez is off to the Saints, and he is saying they will be giving him a lot of money, hmm.

      • Rory says:

Seems that Bologna refused the bid from Saints at the end, they won’t accept bids under 20 millions

  • igwe chinedu says:

yes no one can dispute dat jesus is not d one to be put first or to b acknowledged so great fans of livpool lets put God first knowing very wel dat he makes things out of nothing, he can make our club great again. Pls Brendan bring Lewandowski cos he has all the attributes of Teves and he
is a one man squade. Pls 4get about demsey.

    • Paddywhac says:

Wise up to yourself, what has a make believe god got to do with football

    • Cheesehead says:

Get a grip son, we’re signing a winger not a bucket of fish and two loaves of bread. Keep your preaching about your invisible sky daddy to yourself and just enjoy the football.

    • Eoin says:

I think your on the wrong website and the wrong continent for that matter. The religious nutters are normally to be found in the U.S.A. This is a football website – let’s keep it that way.

  • Ken says:

Just watched these guy on you tube, mehn what a great buy, fantastic player. I never believ we could get such player. Welcome to lfc

    • Bubbles says:

Ok, those clips were obtained from a possible 68 matches. If someone had some clips on Charlie Adam with his passes and free kicks while at Blackpool you obviously are gonna be impressed and think he was the best thing since sliced bread. But Charlie Adam is absolute dross is he not. Don’t be woodwinked by these clips, he could be another El Zhar.

  • shanu says:

yep! gud signing, two more(sahin, dempsey) and we kick start d season. YNWA

    • Bubbles says:

Sahin looks like he is on his way to Arsenal (with Song off to Barca). Sahin was too good to be true anyway.

      • Erin says:

Screw Sahin. The way this season looks like, it’s PL top half. In which case, sell cole, Adam and spearing as they contribute nothing and get paid millions for it. That way, we can say this season we sold the crap.
We have sold, Bellamy, Kuyt, Maxi, Aurelio, Aquilani . How many goals is that? Who will provide them? Borrini? I think not. Rogers speaks like a competent manager who just received his qualification . Let’s see if he can walk the walk. So far, the transfer market had been poor. Partly because our beloved king acted like a Fat kid in a candy shop with the money.
Just hope we havent hired the David Brent of the PL.
