6 Centre Backs To Replace Daniel Agger

THE day that Dan Agger leaves Liverpool will be a sad day, indeed. It is a day that most of us, I’m sure, hope will never come.

Ever since signing for the Reds as a slightly less tattooed 20 year old in the summer of 2005, the classy Danish international has made a name for himself as one of our most reliable, most notable players, as well going on to cement his place as one of the top five centre-backs in the Premier League.

All of that, and he has played less than 200 games for Liverpool in over 7 years, because of frequent injury.

Injury, perhaps, is one of the deciding factors for FSG though as, despite protestations to by the player, he seems destined to leave before the end of the transfer window. I can only hope that the rumours are false and that Agger is still around come midnight on August 31st but in the meantime, we should probably take a look at some of the players from around Europe that are potential replacements for the Danish captain.

As I’m sure all Liverpool fans would, I’d be beside myself if the club chose to let Agger go to Manchester City, regardless of the amount of money they foist onto us to ease his departure. But there are options available to us, both inside and outside of the club and while it may feel like it, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Who would you choose to replace our great Dane?

Among them i hope Coates is given the chance to impress.if Skrtel is considered as Puyol then Coates can be considered as Pique.and i don’t wanna see Williams at LFC.he’s not so good to fill the boots of Agger

The reason he seems destined to leave is people like you continuing to say so. It’s true that no player is greater than the team but Agger has said he wants to stay and Rodgers wants him here. To upset the center of defense days before the start of a season would be hugely counterproductive to what Rodgers and FSG want to accomplish. If FSG were to sell Agger they would be playing right in to the hands of all of the bitters who want them to fail simply because they are Americans. What’s more I think that we should NEVER EVER sell any of our first team players to any of the top Prem teams. Torres could still come back to bite us in the… and I have lost respect for Wenger over him allowing/facilitating the sale of RVP to the Mancs.
A solid defense is the only thing that kept us from falling into the bottom half if the table last season and is the base upon which Rodgers will build his new team. Agger simply must stay!

Kelly & Coates are more than able replacements.
