Liverpool FCLIVERPOOL FC’s managing director Ian Ayre has yet again, attempted to quash any rumours surrounding Luis Suarez’s future by insisting that he is not for sale, according to Sky Sports.

Suarez has been in blistering form this season, topping the scoring charts in the Premiership with a whopping 22 goals, however these performances have not been replicated by the remainder of the team and Liverpool currently lay seventh in the table and are a massive eight points away from a spot in the top four.

This probably lack of action in the Champions League has led to renewed speculation that Suarez is set to depart Anfield and look for a fresh challenge elsewhere, although the Uruguayan only penned a new, long-term deal last summer.

However, Ayre took to Sports Illustrated and said:

“To play at the highest level in the Premier League and European football, you need players like Luis and Steven Gerrard on your team. So the last thing in our mind is selling Luis Suarez. He’s not for sale. It’s not something we’re interested in.

“I remember when Fenway Sports Group bought the team, John Henry made a comment in the media: We don’t want to just build a team to win but to keep winning. To do that you have to have a number of world-class players on your team.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
